Hey any local So Cal guys experienced in doing the timing belt service? I plan on getting the kit fom Purems or ECS, and trying to find a local German shop that will do the labor, but if anybody here has any experience in these, and would like to earn some extra bucks for your next MOD, I would love to send it your way, instead of the dealership or outside shop.
I would attempt this myself, but my garage is packed, just moved into new house, and with a 14 month old, work, etc....not sure i would have the patience to do it right and not F-Up my motor.
Any interest, and how much labor wise we talking...also i would like to watch you do it, and possible learn something.
This will be on a 2001 A4 1.8T
Thanks in advance!!!

I would do it but I have no time... I finally found time to do my BT setup this weekend... I did my tining belt a few months ago and it was pretty easy... you can do it in the driveway if you have to it doesnt take too long.

If you decide you would prefer to have a shop do it, contact Jose at Eurotech. His shop is in Culver City and he is open on Saturdays for appts. It is a bit of a drive, but he does awesome work and at reasonable prices which would make it worth it. His number is (310) 915-7600.
If you do go, I'm on the way and you can pick up the S4 Avus wheels you contacted me about [:)]

I did my own on my B5 passat. wasn't too bad just a whole saturday afternoon. I'd love to help you but I just woudn't want to be responsible if anything went wrong for any reason.. I'm not a licensed and insured shop! [;)]
Ron @ VW Specialties in Huntington Beach might be a good person to call and get a rate. His work is top notch.

I found a shop in Glendora that will do it for 500 bucks parts and labor. that's what he quoted me on my 2.7. I have no idea how good or bad he is. I just know what he quoted me.

($1000) That's for the parts too - you'll save a lot if you get the parts on your own. [wrench]
Some shops don't like you bringing in parts, but if you already have them just say so when you call and see who is willing to do the labor.
When I did mine I still forked out the $1000 to use Original Audi parts, not aftermarket OEM. - This was from Beach House Imports in Costa Mesa.

Careful - it may be good to get a list of what parts they are using; there is more than just the timing belt itself that has to be changed - and that price from a shop sounds like its missing something... [confused]
