View Full Version : Is New Jersey the B7 Capital of the Country???

Im from jersey. I've live there all my life up until a year ago when I moved to Florida. Shortly after getting here I bought my brilliant red B7 over largely because I never saw them on the roads. I loved the exclusivity. There are so few B7 or even audi's in the central florida area I think I probably know them all personally...
Anyways, I went back home to North Jersey (and NYC) this weekend and I swear that I've never seen so many B7's (& A6) in my entire life. Not even my audi dealer has more. For me it makes it so watered down and you'd need so many frookin exterior mods just to differentiate yourself. The irony is I was actually planning on moving back to jersey. Not that this is anyway would affect me moving back there, I just find it kinda funny that my old hometown has embraced audi so heavily.

it's bc there are several audi dealers north of the shore. Just a lot of places to choose from. When all you see is BMW and Infiniti dealers that is generally what you go with. There are probably an equal amount of audi dealers for such a small state.
I know of Bell, Riverside, and 2 others (can't think of the names)

dch and jack daniels are another two..
when i bought mine last year from dch...i didn't really notice many b7's.....but now im starting to see more and more. though most drivers i see are alot older and or women....white, black and quartz are the colors i've seen most. I like when another b7 pulls up behind me, and they have that look of "strange, i don't think my exhaust looks like that? must be special"

blame it on riverside, they pump out so many cars it's crazy (i got my car there)
it's true though, 90% of the B7's or B6's for that matter on campus here (Indiana Univ) are NJ/NY people

If you want to see alot of A4's, check out Southern California. I travel around the US a fair amount, including NJ and nothing compares to Los Angeles in terms of the numbers of cars. B5, B6, B7 A4's and S4's. I have seen quite a few RS4's in the past year also.

actually, im convinced that Denver is the Audi capitol of America...across most platforms.
seen here the most...as compared to everywhere else i have ever traveled (less south africa...where there are more VAG cars than people in the major cities of Johannesberg and Cape Town)...
b5 s4....EVERYWHERE...i see at least 10 a day
b6/7 s4...failrly common, i see at least 2-3 per day
b5 a4....too many to count
b6 a4....see above
b7 a4....i think rapidly becoming more popular, at least what i see, than b5...and catching up to the b6
a6...c5/6....fairly common actually.
a8...lots...and a few s8s as well
TT...more in the summer, but they are still around.
basically, audis here are a dime-a-dozen. you see far more than their subi AWD counterparts (although there are quite a few of those aaround as well...).

This is definitely NOT the Audi capital of the country.
I live in SoCal and went back to NJ last August on business.
In SoCal, BMW outnumbers Audi 10 to 1.
In NJ, Audi outnumbers BMW 10 to 1.
Easy winner.
(Although there are probably more expensive versions of the Audis out here....RS4, S4, etc - because everyone loves throwing their money at big lease payments in CA)

I think there may be a difference between OC and WLA. I am in NJ once a month or so. Seems to me I see alot of the Audi brand here.

Fair enough, but we are comparing a whole state (NJ) to a single city (LA)....I took the liberty of extending the boundaries by about 45 minutes south of where you're looking. [;)]
I think Audi is the "in" car right now anyways.
People like the styling, the build quality, the German roots, and some have become a little disenchanted with BMW (like me) and didn't want to go Japanese.
If they would JUST - BUMP - THE - PERFORMANCE on the little 2.0T, they could double their sales.
Most red-blooded American men overlook the Audi, simply based on the factory performance stats.
These people never even get out to the dealership to drive it and give it a chance because the 200hp number for a $35-$40k car is so uninspiring.
I feel like going to every dealership and placing an advertisement for ECU tuning on the windshield of every A4 on the lot. [:p] [:p]

no no, my vote goes for West LA, as well. I was just there and I cannot tell you how many Audis I saw. B5, B6, B7 - everything. I saw like 4 S-line B7s in a span of 10 minutes. I saw two C6 S6s just yesterday - one in Santa Monica and one right outside Brentwood.

I said $35k - $40k, and here are a few examples of MSRP for those cars, before add-ons / upgrades:
2007 Audi A4 2.0 T Avant quattro $31,340
2007 Audi A4 2.0 T quattro with Tiptronic $31,540
2007 Audi A4 2.0 T Avant quattro with Tiptronic $32,540
2007 Audi A4 2.0T Cabriolet with Multitronic $39,100
2007 Audi A4 2.0T Cabriolet quattro with Tiptronic $41,200
As far as L.A., maybe they are the Audi capital of North America......but I was a little shocked by the sheer volume that I saw in NJ. Specifically the Upper Saddle River area.

One can get to the 40k mark on a 2.0T Audi.
Mine's MSRP was 39k and I didnt have the S-line nor the titanium nor the Bose/Satellite packages.
I didnt pay MSRP b/c I haggled but you get the idea.

Well here's a new spin for your conundrum...
2006 B7 2.0t s-line Orlando, florida
and I'm from Jersey as well.

I will second you on this one. My parents live in Cherry Creek so I'm up there in Denver quite a bit and I'm teliing you I've never seen so many Audi's in my life...[:D] San Antonio, on the other hand has hardly any Audi's. We have an Audi dealer, but they are low volume. I love the fact that there aren't too many B7's and that mine sticks out cause it's moded.

yeah man, i work is west paterson right off rt 46. and i'm from North Arlington. so i take rt3 to rt46 west everyday. its only a 9 miles commute. and today it only took me 15 minutes to get to work.....i was shocked, becasue yesterday, it took me an hour. the record for me to get to work was 3 hours...its bad enough rt 3 is 3 lanes up untill it turns into rt46 where it pinches to 2 lanes....the one lane loss is so critical man....screws up EVERYTHING!!!....and when it rains, forget it, people just loose their god damn minds...and decide to have accidents which makes the commute even longer....arg

so yeah there are more Audis in the midatlantic.
If I lived in florida, would I get and audi? I'm not sure that I would. I love my audi, but when snow/ice isn't an issue, then maybe an M5 would be better choice.

I lived in Laguna Niguel.
Moved to Laguna Hills, right at the edge of Aliso Viejo.
My sister, who I visit frequently, lives in Newport Coast.
My wife's family lives in Mission Viejo, and I work in Irvine.
I am extraordinarily familiar with this entire area and I'm just curious......
Where the HELL are you seeing all of these Audi's?? [confused]
I probably spot 3-4 per day.
When I was in NJ, it seemed like every 6th car was an Audi.
If we were talking BMW's or MB's, then yes - SoCal is the BMW and MB capital of the friggin' world.......but I just don't see it with Audi.
That's one of the reasons why I bought the Audi, because there were a lot less of them on the roads here. [drive]

I dont know man, I think there are as much Audis as BMWs here in South Florida.
The Collection was the #1 dealer in the U.S.
Not too sure about B7s, but as far as Audis go, Southern Cal is the only thing that compares.

in the Mid-atlantic I see a lot B7s, though I was just in the UK, and all I saw were B5/B6s and 1 or 2 B7s.
I'd expect to see more B7s fashion conscious areas. And areas of high wealth/car overturn, hell I got mine after someones 1yr lease ended. [why would u lease an s4 avant for 1yr, maybe a stock 2.0, but not a loaded s4]

could be that they didnt like the car and just turned it in for another Audi for whatever reason. A lot of times if you are a long time customer they will cut you a break if the car is in good condition and you are getting a more expensive lease. I've seen it happen rarely, but i've seen it.

well the 2 bad things about my car...
it's bright red (so everyone notices me(fuzz), and it's got midsize SUV consumption.)
Though the red has grown on me, and if you were a bit wide, the seats may not be comfortable.

I will agree with the Denver statement, I was out in Broomfield for 2 days recently and saw alot of S4s and tons of B7s in general. Back home in Kentucky all you see are Bimmers and Mercs although the Audis you see are fairly nice. I travel basically 100% for my job and agree with most people on the Audi sightings but wanted to point out that I am pretty disappointed with the Bay Area Audi population. I have been out here for going on 3 weeks now (Pleasanton) and see a B7 here and there but have yet to see an S4 or RS4 surprisingly enough. I have seen a million M3s and at least 2 NSXs a day amongst other nice cars; I just figured more people would want to be different...and have a sexier ride.

yes im bringing up an old thread, but i went down to south beach this weekend and HOLY SHIT, there were audi's everywhere. mostly B7's but a few B6 verts and such. i cant believe there is such a disparity between audis in central florida and southern florida. maybe its money thing, but i doubt it since you see tons of BMW's up here compared to down there. anybody from south florida with a thought?

Miami has more A4s than houses
My guess is that the Twin Cities Metro in MN is about 90% Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda, & Chrysler (in no particular order), the remaining 10% is BMW, Audi, Volvo, Saab, & Mercedes (in no particular order).
