I've noticed my shifter vibrating a bit at idle and also when driving... its a brand new (3000miles) 2.0t b7 2007 ...I drove my friend's VW GLI (Same year as my A4 2007) and the shifter did not vibrate at all... the wierd thing is that the gli is also a 2.0t (same engine and turbo) but the shifter does not shake at all, whether at idle or during drive...Is this normal? When your A4 B7 is on (parking brake up and in neutral) does the shifter vibrate a little bit??? Also, when driving, the shifter kind of pulls forward a bit and vibrates to the higher rpm... Should I be concerned?

it's because of the way your engine and tranny are mounted. the vw's and a3 have a transverse engine mount, and tranny is beside it in the engine bay. the shifter from the car is linked to the tranny via cables that can absorb vibration to the linkage if done right. your car and other a4's have a longitudinal engine mount, which means the engine is mounted sideways. the tranny is behind the engine in this since, and runs underneath the car. the shifter in the car runs directly down onto the shift linkage on the tranny, so no cables. you shouldn't have excessive vibration, but it is a tad more than the transverse. my friend has a gti, and his has no vibration either.

I have no real insight to add to your dilemma but I can tell you that I drove test drove a Frontrak 6 Speed and I definitely noticed the vibration when starting in first gear. Other than that I didnt really notice any shaking.
EDIT: And the car had 300 miles on it. The dealer didnt explain the issue thoroughly but said something to the effect of what the above poster said.

good to know... wierd though... youd think that the audi would be more comfortable than the vw and shake less...

^ Manual cars will have a shaking shifter... as mentioned above it's from the mounts and so forth but if you don't want it to shake you'd probably want to replace the the mount bushings with polyurethane...but if you do that it leads to vibrations in your interior. Pretty much All manual cars experience this, it's normal lol.
