Hey guys

I'll be in Anaheim for few days with some free hours available in the afternoon and evening.

I know there are a lot of Ziners in South Cal and I was hoping you'd give me some ideas of things to do/visit that are a little less touristy.
I am interested in interesting places - where would you take your friends if they visited

Thank you

I'd cruise down to Irvine, maybe 20-30 minutes south and go to the Irvine Spectrum.
Plenty of cool places to shop and eat + lots of good looking girls.

If not there, then the Block in Orange is basically the same thing, but a little closer to where you'll be. (fewer good looking girls, though....lol)

It really depends on what you want to do and how much you want to spend.

Every possible thing you can think of (almost) is available to do in SoCal - and basically within 45 minutes of where you're visiting.

Beach, mountains, shopping, food, sports, museums, etc.

I ended up driving all the way south to Laguna Beach on PCH. Stopped several times along the way - walked on Ocean Blvd in Corona Del Mar - on the beach walkway in Laguna Beach. Went to Newport Beach and Pier. Lido island.
My wife and I are the kind of people that would rather go walk/drive in nice places with awesome views.

Yesterday we drove by the Huntington Beach Pier but this afternoon we didnt have time to drive by again. I was planning to stop and walk on it this time.
For tonight I am planning to go to Long Beach to see the Queen Mary - maybe eat on it if there are restaurants there. Or go to a bar.

Tomorrow afternoon I am planning to go to LA - Mulholand Drive, Sunset Strip, Bel Air, Beverly Hills. Drive around if possible - see some nice mansions
We went to Rodeo Drive on Sunday - second time we go there when the shops are closed ;-) Darn

BTW: Traffic is horrible. Luckly we can use the HOV lane but wow.

I am glad I've seen quite a number of Audi's around. I sometimes wonder if I drive by any of the Ziners.

THAT is why I don't want to hear anyone ever give me crap about my TIP again. [;)]

....if they only knew.

Seriously - I think I'd be dead by 40 if I were to use a manual here.
The nerves and frustration - not to mention my knee getting sore.

Very few cars on the HOV - most people by themselves in the car. Wicked....
It's really nice here no doubt but I'd have to have a lot of money to have the same comfort and then have money to pay someone to be in the car so I can use the HOV.

;-)

Long Beach: Down by the Pike and Aquarium, lots of restaurants, plenty of places to walk and window shop.

Queen Mary, big boat. That's about it.

Might want to check out Manhattan Beach or Redondo as well.

If you head to LA or the "westside", there is always the Grove or Century City. Santa Monica has a couple streets that are blocked off for people to walk around and shop/eat.

If you have time, take the 10fwy to the end and drive up toward Malibu on PCH.

Exactly, a good reason to drive auto. That's how the traffic is here everyday.

Like B7cruiser said, go down to Long Beach by the aquarium. Nice place to take a walk and you can even take a little boat ride tour. It's also where the Long Beach Grand Prix was held

If you would have had time to schedule a trip over to Catalina, you would have left California with a whole different appreciation.

....next time.

if you're still around the LA area this evening you should drop by The Stand for the Audi GTG

This AZ'er makes his way around Downtown Anaheim every so often. If its views your looking for stay around the beaches, if you go down to far south county like San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano theres more of that old orange county feel, good sites and peaceful views.

Thanks guys for all your input.
This is my third time in Cali.

First time I stayed in Berkeley and drove all the way to Santa Barbara and then to LA for New Year's Eve. Most of the driving was done on PCH.
On the way back I drove thru Monterey and Carmel. Drove on the 17 mile drive.
Then after getting back I went to Lake Tahoe for some skiing.

Second time I stayed in Downtown San Francisco and spent few days driving on the coast - south to Carmel/Monterey and then north a little bit.

This time I'm staying in Anaheim and drove around the LA area.

Hopefully I'll be back for another work event in San Diego in the first week of May.

I've had a great time - have to go back I guess today
