For those that are running cat cams, are you guys running cast or are there any of you running their billet? Also is anyone running anything other then their 3651 and 3653? Looking to see if anyone here is running their 3652 setup or larger and if that is even possible in our cars.

I might be changing cams right now and might as well see if I can push the limit with the largest cams we can run on this 2 liter setup.

i have cast 3651

bobq told me anything other than 3651 and i would need a custom tune or standalone

if it werent for that i would be running something w/ a larger lift

Well thats what I am looking to do since my car is no longer street driven.

Just not sure if anyone has used the much higher lift then even the 3653 which has a "8.80 / 10.85mm" max lift and 239 / 245° duration.

The 3562's
max lift = 9.25 / 11.00mm
duration = 267 / 280°

i would talk to bobq about them

there are some posts on vortex about them that can be found w/ searching

you and me are the only ppl i know of in the b5 forum here running cams @ all [:)]

but like i said..if i had standalone/better tuning options..i would have gone w/ the 3652's..no reason not to

Yeah I am going to need to look into the 3652's which might be a good choice for my car or a set of Revolvers that are close to that since thats what javad at 034 said he could get me.

Maybe I will have to try to contact bobq or talk to Issam a little more about this. Looking to push the car over the 550whp mark with the .82 a/r then maybe try the 1.06 a/r housing.

BTW Bigjuice is also running cams, he has Cat 101-3653 cams.

I am going to get me a set of 3653 cams very soon.

Ian,

That guy you recommended is not very good. I contacted him several times and he says I will get back to you and never does.... good thing I was not in a rush.

You sure it is the 3652 billet cam? Only thing that I saw him post about the cam was that they were a set of the big cat billet cams and they make ones that are bigger then the 3652. (never mind found it at the very end posted by someone else)

I wonder if it is the big cams, those very long runners on his tube manifold or the T4 exhaust housing on his GT35r that is causing his very late spool. I really dont want it to spool that late and would hate to have it be the cams that cause the problem. Talking to javad he also said that the 3652 would be good if I was going to 9500, but I am looking for something that work best for my 8500 rev limiter. So I might have to look for a set of cams that are closer to 270.

Just a little too much for me seeing that after shifting at 8k I am right around 5k in 2nd gear, the lag there would kill me. Well I guess I will wait to see what javad or Issam has to say.

Ian - I haven't purchased a set as of yet. I will more than likely purchase them within the next two weeks. This is in preparation for phase II - Motor Build.

I am pretty excited about the cams. Besides the fact that my current tune was tuned for 3653s (I am still on stock cams). I have noticed that most of the people making the numbers (hp, et, and trap) run cams. That part of the setup is overlooked, and people focus on the turbo and all that jazz, but lets see bigjuice (low 12s),Gavin18t(11s),Ctapp(10s) - (He was running 3653), etc, etc.

Edit: One more thing.

When I spoke with Chris Tapp he said that he tried the 3651s, 3652s, and 3653s and felt that the 3653 worked best for his setup (Keep in mind he had an ABA 2L).

I'm running the 3651's with VVT and revo BT programming. I would go with 3653 or 3652's if I were running Tapp or standalone tuning...

I'm also running a set of 3651's with Unitronic. I very much like them and found that power gains beyond 5k with power ramping up just before 5500rpm. My 18 psi now feels like my previous 22 psi so about 25-30 whp. Hopefully I can dyno to compare to my baseline.

Well at this point going with the 3652's would be down grading since my Schricks are 252/260 and the 3653 cat's are 239 / 245°, we are trying to find some thing closer to 270ish which is why I might end up trying the 3652 set seeing that they are 267 / 280°.

Do any of you know how to contact Bob, would like to ask him if he thinks if it would be a good idea to try the 3652's in my car or if there is something better?
