Keep us posted. I am interested in your results with the 3071.

lol, ya think?[:D]

BTW, CTapp ran an 11.6x(I think) on a 3071, his race gas tune (25psi) and a stock block.

Stock 1.8 or ABA stock block? I know he had the ABA block in when he hit the low 11's and high 10's with the GT35r running 32-35psi just not sure which block he had in with the 3071.

Is the 3071 streetable? or does it make its power too late? I searched here a bunch the last few days just trying to learn more about it but there wasn't a huge amount of info.

it was a stock AEB block....what I can't seem to recall was the exact ET....either 11.69 or 11.96....it's probably on his website.

I think it was a 11.96 and low 12's.

not knowing from experience personally but i think it would be a very streetable turbo and would be able to push a strong 300Awhp without pushing it's limits like the GT2871r would be..

hell, even k0mpresd say's that his GT30r is streetable..

i've often thought if i go BT a GT3071RWG would be a fun turbo on stock displacement

Isn't the GT30r that Kompresd have a .46 a/r? That is going to spool up much quicker then a GT3071 .64 a/r.

that would be true. but i really don't know the specs on his 30r. i was just under the assumption that he had the .63 a/r from his dyno charts. and merely the fact that he is using cams too..

hell, i've never even seen a 30r with that small of a a/r before

Tim of SGT used one on a B6 which GIAC tried to tune and then ended up running a REVO tune.

Well it looks like Kompresd actually has a GT3076r .63 a/r. I thought someone on here was using a GT30 .48 a/r, 94jedi uses a .48 a/r T3/T4 50 trim.

Here is that GT30

So what 3071 would be good for our car? The .64 would be the quickest spool right? .84 is that making power way to late?

.64 ar (http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=tp&Product_Code=GRT-TBO-025&Category_Code=BCS) quicker spool

.84ar (http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=tp&Product_Code=GRT-TBO-026&Category_Code=BCS)
slower spool

or is that GT30 with the low ar a better choice with such a big turbo?

As for inlet size do you just try to get the biggest you fit?

it's all about preference. it's not an auto X turbo that's for sure. if your are looking for something peppy like that i wouldn't go any bigger than a gt28rs. only problem is that they run out of steam in the higher rpms and higher gears.. where as the 3071 will be a little more sleepy at first to get going, but it wont run out of breath nearly as quick. more of a track day turbo or 1/4 mile turbo if you ask me..

and yes, the .64 would be the quickest spool..

the smaller the turbine a/r = the smaller the overall size of turbine wheel which = faster spool, but also gets choked up in higher rpms

well i got the kit on the car....we ran into a few little problems....the dump tube atp offers didnt match up exactly so my friend had to cut and turn the flange then reweld it, the 4-3inch silicone intake was hitting my headlight so i had to cut a little of the intake then it worked, i was shorted a few bolts but luckly my friend had some spare bolts.other than that its a good kit.

I plan on slapping the 3071 on once my standalone is in.

smaller a/r just has to do with the turbine housing not the wheel itself. You change the turbine housing without changing the wheel since the exit hole doesn't change just the distance changes.. A friend of mine went from a .82 a/r to a 1.06 a/r on his GT35r, he says the 1.06 spools up 700 rpm later.

^^oops ya, sorry, i should have just said that the smaller the turbine housing the faster the exhaust gas flows into the wheel. causing it to turn faster at lower RPMs..

thanks for catching that

sean1.8t...... i got it running 15-16psi and it feels good, i love it up top, ill post a video soon, i'll find something fun to race this weekend.
