Sorry if this has been covered, but I didn't see any relavent topics when I searched. How can I tell if I have oem sport suspension? Is there a code in the VIN? I bought the car used, and I have no idea. The reason I ask is that I heard that if you have oem sport suspension and you run springs that provide less than 1.25" drop, you won't see any difference in appearance. Is that true?

yes that is true. To tell if you have sport suspension look at the struts they should be red and you should also have the sport wheels and sport steering wheel

my stock wheels were the 15's (blah), not sure about the color of the shocks off the top, but I do have the little badge on my steering wheel that looks a little like the s4 badge, is that ?

yes thats the sport wheel, how big of a wheel gap do you have if you put your fingers in between

hmm, in the front probably two or three I would guess. Wish I could check for sure, I'm sitting in my cube at the office right now. I'll make sure to check when I get home tonight. How many should I be able to fit if I do have the sport suspension vs non sport?

If you can't fit your hold hand inbetween and its about 2-3 finger front and back you have sport suspension

Sweet, I think that's about what I have. So, I guess the S4 rims I bought won't make her look like dune buggy then

Funny you asked this, because I did the same like 2 weeks ago and discovered that I do indeed, have the stock sport suspension...as you can see from my picture, I have the S4 wheels as well and I think they look great. I could stand to have them like 0.5 - 0.75" lower at most, but it certainly doesn't look like e jeep wrangler. [up]

And my the struts are definately red, just shine a flashlight in that bitch and confirm for yourself.

yep, that's the look I want. The car looks the tits man, very well done. Wheel cap isn't too bad at all, definately not bad enough to do the suspension over.

That's exactly what I thought, here are some better pictures:
