well a buddy of mine here at school drives an 06 GC SRT8 and the other day the weather was actually nice up here in syracuse and we decided to go for a drive...

i hopped in my boy's srt and met up with another kid whose got a b7 a4 6mt(good driver)...

on the outskirts of campus there is a 2 lane road with some great straights and never many cars, so thats where we headed...

car details as follows...

B7 A4 w/ Giac-X flash, Carbonio intake, no passengers, and 1/4 tank gas

06 jeep GC SRT8 bone stock w/ me sitting shotgun and 3/4 tank gas

from a 25ish mph roll to about 65-70 the srt8 could NOT lose the A4, i was stunned....i was sure he'd get walked even at not such high speeds...

i surely wasnt expecting him to stay so close, srt was ahead by barely a car length, if that at all!!

im pretty sure this would not have been the case if this little drag was taken to 100+... but those speeds are for the track[;)] ...

something could have been wrong with the srt8 but my boy claimed its how its always driven and he was even more shocked than i was that the little 4 banger with just under 1G in mods was keeping up...

thoughts? explanations?

on a side note, i absolutely fell in love with the srt's growl in full song! gives u goosebumps

The A4 is a 6 speed, which allowed him to be in optimal gear. Maybe the GC didnt downshift into 1st? The A4 should be a low 14 second car maybe dipping into 13.9s if he is an amazing driver.

Could have been as simple as the GC not downshifting to 1st and running in 2nd from 25, which might explain why a low 13 second truck would be so even with a slower car.

The A4 should be faster then 13.9, I ran a 13.9 bone stock with just an APR reflash.

Looking at my time slip you will see that i only trapped at 97.33.
At that time my buddy's evo that traps 103-105 would always walk me.
After carbonio and the test pipe and many other non engine mods. i now stay dead even or get him by a fender to a car. After making many pulls with him its pretty safe to say i'm trapping at least 100mph. my friend garuntee's i'll do at least 103 but i like to be conservative.

srt8 trapped @ 102.24 , this is more proof that in A4 in the right geographical area's with the right driver is undoubtedly a strong 13, and also a good match for an A4 with bolt ons and a chip. With running the 13.9 stock with a reflash i promise you guys some time slips with strong 13's when i get back to the track. Autocross is my focus so i don't really care about the 1/4.

DAMN! [eek]

You beat bhvrdr time with a hell of a lot less mods. That is impressive.

The Jeep is 4WD... drivetrain loss is most apparent from a roll. I DARE you to try to do it from a stop and watch nothing but taillights the ENTIRE time.

The SRT8 Jeep will do 0-60 in 5 seconds.. on wet or dry pavement.

That's fine... but like I said, if your friend doesn't want to get embarrassed, I'd keep it on the highway :)

Sorry, no. My car stage 2 with a friend in his SRT 8 could not catch up with me and once he FINALLY did we hit twisties and that biotch really got screwed. [:D] I believe the SRT8 performs better on paper than pavement. He burns more gas 0-60 than I do driving home. And before I get lectured on street racing I live in the sticks.

You guys are funny. All SRT-8 products run in the low 13s. By that I mean 13.0-13.4. That is LS2 GTO, C5 Corvette, 996 911, Camaro SS, WRX STi/Evo territory. All of these cars mentioned would kill a Chipped/intake/testpipe A4 with the right driver.

I am the first person to believe stories on the internet because I dont think people are that lonely, or need attention that much that they will make up racing stories. I think they happen, but there are reasons why.

I beat a CTS-V in my dads B6 S4, He should have beaten me seeing as it was a highway roll and they trap a good 5-9mph faster in the 1/4.

I have no doubt audisarecool's friend or him, whoever it was, raced a GC SRT-8 and had the stated outcome.

How many people know how the SRT cars react from a stated roll? I dont, even though I have driven a 300C SRT 8. It was a rocket. But how does the tranny act? does it take 1 second to downshift after the race is started? was he playing catchup because of this? Did the trans only shift into 2nd? Did the driver manually select the wrong gear? Does temperature affect the GC drastically? I know that the Trailblazer SS is sensative to temp. because an SRT-8 anything in 1st gear at 25mph would eat an A4.

B7, your car is obviously a strong example. But most A4s and most drivers with a chip alone wont touch a 13.9.

Our cars are sweet for sure, but they arent going to average 13 second pulls without a K04. A couple of guys in the right area like you said might get 13s without a K04, but you will be able to count them on both hands.
