Here is a mod list and some pics of my 93 urS4. I am the original and only owner of this car and I will nevah sell it. The car is currently under the wrench because of a Bosch plug that failed in #2 cylinder. It should be back on the road in a month or so. It has pulled 430hp/512tq ATW at 11 lbs of boost. We were just getting the AEM tuning dialed in when the plug let loose.

Although the cost of the car may be faiirly inexpensive, $6000-$12000 depending on miles, care and mods, modifying these cars will become very expensive. There just aren't that many options and those options have limited supplies which translates to higher costs. On the plus side, the DIY factor on these cars is very high with a very loyal band of knowlege filled people that are more than glad to help as long as you've STFA first then ask questions. In addition the room in the engine bay makes everything very accessible.
I also own a 99.5 A4 1.8 tqm and I'm blown away by the options for modding that there is available. I've just started with that car and I'm having fun with it. Its a fun car to drive but given a choice I would always choose the urS4. It has a feel that is hard to duplicate. Plus, given the power and the ability to deliver that power to the pavement, it just runs away from other cars. I've been on the track with lots of track cars and humbled many of them to include Porsches, Vipers, Vettes and Ferraris. I remember one day in particular. It was a joint Viper and Ferrari club event that I mooched into. Most of these people trailered or enclosed carriered their cars to the track. I drove mine and then mounted my track wheels/tires when I got there. I had already mounted my track brake pads the day before so I could bed them in good on the way there. During the day countless of these people would come by to ask what the heck I was running in that very large sedan that had passed them on the track. Very cool stuff indeed.

Thank you. As I stated, I am the original owner. When I picked the car up I drove to my shop and started modding. It hasn't stopped in 14 years.

ummmmm 200??? //S4 of course with 760 horse of course....
Beautiful car. I hope to see it around some time. Even more I'd love to have one. I'll never have one that touches that, but someday I'll have a nice 200/urS4/urS6
U mean S4 of course..... right??
200, S4 whatever. 91=200 92-94=S4, no major changes. Only big thing was ride height dropped 1". Everything else was cosmetic or feature oriented chages, and mostly happened in the S4 era irc.

Actually there were a lot of changes from the 91 200 20vt to the 92 S4. First of all, Audi changed the designation from Type 44 to C4. The body is totally different with no sheet metal remaining untouched. The brakes, suspension, transmission, interior and drivetrain are all different. There is hardly any part interchange between these cars. The engine went from a distributor driven spark to individual coils and the infamous POS firing. I make a rear sway bar for the urS-cars and it will not fit on a Type 44. The block and head, outside of the distributor diff can be interchanged but that's about it. Not trying to slam here but just clean things up. They really are great cars and I wouldn't mind having a 91 200 20vt sometime.

Exactly, and I just happen to have a '91 200 20v.... and as a correction, the AAN block is a different casting (differences show in the snub mount bracket area) and there are different drillings to allow for the TB tensioner pulley. This is what made the ur//S cars so wonderful to work on with the fold out rad and the serp belt system (as opposed to the multi drive belt system on the 200). Then there is the intake tube on the Pass side of engine.Well lets agree that the whole engine layout on the S4 changed almost everything except the airbox location.
Interior is completely a different feel... and look!
Similarities: 20v's, same suspension type with rear trapaziodals and transverse links (rear tierods). Torsen center diff with 4.11 ratio and open rear with locker.
you've got my point. lol, all in fun.
Hap, its a joy to look at your progress! You have done an amazing job and I aspire to have an S// car as well put together as yours. (my URS6A is well on its way ;) ) Bing (Rich) whom you've had dealings with lives a couple of miles away from me. He, Jim Furdyn, and I pall around about every opportunity we have. We talk about you from time to time ;) Good show!

Hap, I love your car... and I love to watch all the stuff you do to it. It is passion like yours that makes it easy for me to explain to non-car people what this craziness is all about!
I met you briefly at the very first Dave and Buster's GTG, but I am sure you don't remember me.
Thanks for correcting me. I learn something everyday[:)] .
I have never been around an UrS4 and there appears to be a woeful gap in my Audi knowledge between the 91 200 and 95 S6.
I may be able to solve that though, I found this car at auction next week:
Klode Salvage S4 (http://www.klode.com/kws/NApplications/Display_Pics.aspx?Stockid=823004&Exit=Close)
Higher mileage and some damage but may go cheap. What do you guys think? And if any of you local guys are interested let me know I won't bid on it, or might be able bid on it for you if you aren't registered.
Anyway sorry for the threadjack. As zep pointed out those are some pretty nice similarities though. Plus all very high quality, well built limited production cars that are incredible performers.
Again UrS4 nice car, and zep, I'm very jelous 95.5 avant too. I love those, and have been casually searching for one for several years. And thanks for the Audi lesson.

Looks great Hap. What the hell! No Turbosmart WG? You traded it for the Tial? LOL! The header looks good too, very similar design to the IMSA header. I can see the IMSA's influence on the proto-type. What cams are you running? With what you described, they sound a lot like CatCams with there solid lifters.

The cams will be custom and adjustable for timing. They are being ground by Revolver and that is the hold up on getting my engine back together. They had the blanks for almost 4 months.

Since it has taken that long, you could have ordered them from a CatCam dealer http://www.audi5turbotech.com/Default.aspx?tabid=71 They do not sell blanks (that I know of) but they do custom grinds. They have a pretty exstensive line of hydraulic and mechanical 20 valve turbo cams, I'm surprised they didn't have what you were looking for already.

You gotta remember that I've got 1mm bigger valves and this pretty much eliminates any off the shelf cams.

1mm bigger where? On the face or the stem? If its on the face, why would it eliminate an off the shelf cam? What are the specs for your cams?

I don't have them. They were given to the folks at Revolver by the dude that did the head work. That's all I know and I'm stickin to my story ;>)

I am curious have you ever run that beast at sea level in the winter? Should put up some amazing numbers!
It is an awesome example you have created!
Thanks Jevrem. The car is still in the shop going through a total rebuild and rethink on engine management. I've thrown out the AEM and gone over to 034. The head has also been severely modded with big valves, custom cams, solid lifters and fully coated. In fact, all those head mods have really held the car back from being completed. But, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Progress is being made and the car should be running in a month or so.

I am glad to here that the car will be back on the track. Do you have some numbers regarding time from 0-100km/h, at 402m before you send car to the shop.
In two months I will order the GT3071R kit from 034. Now I am install a bigger brakes at my urs4.
I have taken the car to sea level but that was several engines ago. I took it to an ACNA national event at Sears Point in, I think, 2003. At the time I was running an RS2 mani and Garrett journal bearing T04E 57 trim. The car was still an animal. On the chute going into the hairpin it was throwing a flame of over 6 ft as I rev matched getting into second for the turn. Everyone also loved the sounds of the wastegate and BPV as I shifted coming out of the hairpin going up the hill. The creation still continues. As I mentioned in the last post to Jevrem, the car is finally being completed.

Hey guys
First off thanks go out to Tufty Jones of S-Line Motorsport and Brendan Rudack of Apikol. This car would nevah have come together without these 2 guys. Second, the dyno we used is a Superflow 880 AWD dyno. This is a very conservative dyno and the numbers it pops out are at the wheels and very close to sea level uncorrected numbers. The car itself had just over 500 miles of break-in with dino oil and we weren't trying to set any records this time around especially with only 91 octane in the tank.
The first baseline run netted 413 hp and 368 tq with 22 lbs of boost. That was with no advance, a rich air /fuel mixture(10.6) and spring pressure on the wastegate only. After adding some advance and leaning the fuel to 10.8 we were up to 436/376. More advance and less fuel, 11.1 got us up to 460/391. The boost had been pretty consistent at around 24-25 lbs. We heard a boost leak from somewhere around the injectors and after pulling them, resealing the injector sleeves and the injectors plus running down a leak from the Wagner/034 intake manifold we were ready to go once again. This time the boost leapt up to 29 lbs and we pulled 514/442. Again, this was with spring pressure only a few more degrees of advance and air/fuel at 11.4. The guy driving the car was shutting down the car at about 6000 rpm because we're still only at 500 miles on the break-in with dino oil. It is going to S-Line for a 500 mile change to synthetic tomorrow afternoon.
Brendan knew that was too high to run at this point so he bypassed the N75 valve and we got the boost back down to 21 lbs. Several more runs had us adding a little more advance and moving the mixture to 11.6 got the numbahs to 470 hp/390 tq. The car feels very good and pulls like a freight train. When you look at the hp curve its still going on a healthy x axis passing 6500 rpm. The build on this motor will have us red lining at 8200 rpm so I took the hp curve on the 29 lb run out to 8000 rpm and the hp came in at 590 hp. With E-85 or 110 race gas the car should be putting down 650+ hp ATW with 34lbs which is right where I projected things. Don't ya just love it when a plan comes together. Brendan has been pinging me this evening about getting a run on video via facebook so stand by for further Dorn (Dyno Porn).
So, yeah, I've got to put up with only 470 hp ATW until I finish the 2000 mile break-in but I just have one thing to say, "This car absolutely rocks".
Hap, wit dakine Dorn story not from Evahboost, Maguire

Time for another update on Da Green Monstah. After the break-in dyno tune she went back into the shop for some more mods and rewiring of bits and pieces. These pictures show some of the new work. All of this doesn't get done unless Dave Jones or Brendan Rudak make it happen. Thanks guys.
The 2 LED lights are for red(low oil pressure) and blue(low coolant level or overheat). I now also have 3 direct reading Autometer gauges in lieu of the Audi system that read Oil Pressure, Oil Temperature and Voltage.
The 5 switches on the ash tray panel are for:
ARM- Arms the NOS WOT switch.
PURGE- Purges the NOS system.
LAUNCH- Arms the 034 IIc Launch Control.
AFR- Disables the Air Fuel Ratio Gauge so you don't have to watch the light show if don't want to.
MAP- Chooses one of 2 fueling options available, 91 octane and E85 in my case.

Yes, the car does have the RS2 or CRB 6-speed. This one was fully rebuilt with all hardened and cryo-whayever stuff done to it before it was shipped to me from germany by Mr. Klugge hisself.
It was a very expensive build. The rear BBK is custom. It uses rear 993tt calipers with custom brackets and 314x30 custom 2 piece rotors and a K Sport Hydraulic Handbrake. This unit is plumbed into the line going to the rear brakes and acts as a remote master cylinder for setting the rear brakes. Rally and drift cars use these for hand brake turns ;>)

nice car, what kind of exhaust is that?
Its completely custom. It starts off as 3" since the turbine exit is 3" then goes to 3.5" as shown here:
http://www.audizine.com/gallery/data/500/s4-5.jpeg
It then runs as a 3.5" exhaust through a single 3.5" in and out silencer all the way to the back where it splits into two 3.5" turns and then reduces to twin 3" into the two 3" in dual 3" tip mufflers. as shown here:
http://www.audizine.com/gallery/data/500/s4-6.jpeg
The exhaust was jointly engineered by Dave Jones and Brendan Rudak of Apikol. Brendan did all of the beautiful welding. It was my idea to go with the dual exhausts however. The choices for 3.5" mufflers are slim to hard to find. By going with 3" mufflers for the rear we gained a lot more choices. I did lose the spare tire in the trunk. I've already had one flat and I called AAA and had it flat bedded home. I do have their Plus service. If I plan a longer trip I'll throw a spare in the trunk.

Well guys, Da Green Monstah is out and about once again. I took her to a Coffee and Cars GTG on Saturday. Here's a link to some pics a local photographer shot yesterday. The guy has serious talent. Fortunately, for him, he didn't have to take any shots of me with the car. There are 6 pics of Da Monstah.

The car feels sooooo good. I've got to get some small things done like a clear bra and having all the audio equipment reinstalled. Brendan is limiting the boost to about 18 lbs until I get more miles on it. Then it goes in for a 91 octane street tune tweak and the E-85 tune. Now that's when the serious numbers get put down. Anyway, just thought I'd share. Did I mention, I had a GREAT weekend.

Very cool UrS4, I think it cost you more than $30K.
We'll never know the cost.
What have you done to the lower part of the rear bumper to fit dual exhaust tips?
Can this custom dual exhaust be done on 1992 Audi 100 V6 2.8?
The rear bumper was cut away on both sides and material added for matching cutouts. Yes you could but you might end up losing your spare tire well. Most new cars do not have a spare and I carry a 12v air compressor and a can of tire repair stuff.
Do you know if there are any Brembo brake kits that can be installed on '92 Audi 100?
You'd have to check your calipers and see if they match up with the G60s on the urS4/6s.

damnnn, this thing is serious! I am jealous! :)
What a great day for the dyno. Cool moist air. A bunch of great guys to hang with. And just about the greatest car to play with all rolled into one afternoon. First of all, thanks have to go out to Lucas Guadagni the owner of CarZ Performance in Lakewood, CO and his able tech Nathan. Thanks for handling my car with your usual level of careful care. Next, I'd like to thank Brendan Rudak and Colin of Apikol for doing a great job of tuning the 034 EFI. Brendan also gets more thanks for all the feet of weld beads he's laid on my car over the years and all of the cumulative engineering he has done with none other than that Crazy Welshman, Dave "Tufty" Jones. A lot of the "Think Tank" mentalizing on the build of this car happened in Tufty's office at S-Line Motorsport with Tufty, Brendan and me going over the infinite details of putting together this type of car.
For those who don't know or who've forgotten, we left you at the dyno several months ago with the car pulling about 500hp or so on 19 lbs of boost from wastegate spring pressure only. The reason for spring pressure only was that the WGFV we were using couldn't give us a lower break-in boost level. After logging some 1500 miles and a fresh oil change, we were ready for Tufty to install a new and stronger stepper motor to control the boost along with the 034 EFI. I had delivered the car to Brendan earlier in the week so he could do more street tuning and load the first tank of Corn juice and make the appropriate tuning adjustments for the extra fuel required when running the E-85. He brought the car down from Boulder and it was strapped to the Superflow dyno.
The first pull was on the same spring pressure only and the car put down 522hp with 404tq at 22 lbs of boost. Somehow in transitioning to the E-85 we picked up a few extra pounds. Oh well, that's been the story of my life. After a few more pulls to make sure he was moving the program in the right direction, Brendan dialed up the timing and leaned the mixture a little and the car put down 578hp/442tq with the very same 22 lbs of boost. OK, at this point Brendan was a little concerned because at our base fuel pressure we were at 80% duty cycle on the 880cc injectors. As he would soon be ramping up the boost pressure, we were gonna run out of injector before we ran out of boost.
More mad conferring was going on and the decision was made to ramp up the fuel pressure by 1.5 bars. Now with the Mondo-sized fuel pump that Mr. Jones had specced, this was not a problem at all. Up went the fuel pressure and we had to make a few more pulls to allow Brendan to back off the mixture to keep us from running too rich. After getting back to basically where we were before the fuel pressure increase, Brendan set about increasing boost pressure. Oops, that was too high and Lucas cuts off the run before the boost went too crazy. Same thing happens two more times until we get a run at a decent 28 lbs of boost. Now it takes about one minute for the Superflow computer to spit out the run file and that can just be the longest minute ever. The results finally come across and its 619.9hp/521.9tq but the mixture is a little rich at 11.3 with boost at 29.7 lbs. Brendan makes a few more adjustments and its 622.7hp/509.4 at 11.4 A/F with 28.7 lbs. He finally settles in at 28.4 lbs giving us 634.6hp/521.9tq at 11.5 A/F with the injectors maxed out.
The BIG question you all probably have is, "Is there more Hap?" Yes, there is more and we're gonna go for it. Everything you do with a car is inherently a compromise. If we go for a bigger injector to run the E-85 at higher boost levels, that can possibly put us into a degredated run profile when we run 100 or even 91 octane. We've now ordered Injector Dynamics 2000cc and we think we can get the car to 670hp at the wheels and that's as far as I want to go. Why not stop here and call it a day? Well, if we did that and with the injectors maxed out we wouldn't have any head room. By going to larger injectors, tuning at that level and then backing off to say 30 lbs, I'll be running the car well below her maximum and going easy on her.
By the way, my Beeg FMIC with the NOS serpentine spray bar performed magnificently all day. Brendan had been doing some initial tuning on a far out built 2.7 B5 S4 right before my car and noticed a huge difference in I/C performance. The B5, equipped with the largest SMICs available and pushing the new Tial 770 kit for turbos, would see about a 15 degree IAT rise through a run. I should mention that this car did not have H2O/Methanol injection but after seeing what my car did, it will. My car on the other hand would see the IATs drop during each run. With and without the NOS. Now that is impressive. As far as dynamic impressions, I love my too loud exhaust. I've lost most of my hearing anyway so I just may leave that alone. The car was remarkably smooth as the power ramped up on the dyno. Lucas remarked several times that he couldn't believe how smooth the car felt and he feels a lot of high powered cars on his dyno. It's a very good thing that Lucas and Nathan had my car strapped down good cause Da Monstah wanted to just climb right over those rollers. The other thing that was climbing was the motor itself. Even with all the trick motor and tranny mounts we were still seeing the motor want to climb out of the engine bay. Dave is gonna be working with Brendan in the not too distant future to come up with a Drive Train Stabilizer, DTS, similar to those for the B5 1.8s and 2.7s to help combat this issue.
As far as driving impressions, I don't have any. I was headed to the airport and Brendan has a few more tweeks to accomplish including cold start with the E-85 so the hands on aspect of the car will have to wait a few days. I am in fact typing this at 36,000 ft on my way to SoCal. And, if I haven't mentioned it yet, I really love this car. Once again, thanks to Tufty Jones for bringing my dream to a reality. Colin took lots of pics and video and I know that Brendan downloaded all the dyno runs. They are posted here:

Hey guys
I thought I'd post up the final numbers for my car at the dyno after we went to 2000cc injectors. The car rolled 674hp/591tq at the wheels on E-85 at 33 lbs of boost. The whole group that's been involved in this build, Tufty Jones of S-Line Motorsport, Brendan Rudak of Apikol and myself are very happy. The car is eminently street driveable but has such a great top end. We did run out of turbo but I'm not going any bigger. I may do some little stuff to optimize the low end but that's about it. The link is to Apikol's Facebook site for a vid and some other data on the dyno runs.
