How many people are running 225/40/18 over 235/40/18? I know that the 235's are recommended, but is there a huge difference in using the 225's? What do my fellow AZer's have to say? The price difference and styles are alot better with the 225's over the 235's.

what's your opinion?

The first set of wheels I bought came...by mistake...with 225/40's. The difference is a bit subtle, but I thought they looked way too small...both for the wheel and the car. Between the two, I'd definitely choose 235's. I'm actually running 245's and think the look is perfect.

How wide are your wheels? 8"?

The first set was 8", but the ones I'm running now are 8.5".

i think that is going to be my problem here. I have 8.5in wheels...i think they would be too small.

so 245 series is also a good choice?

I know I am going with 245's on my 19x8's.

On that note, the price difference between 235's and 245's in ridiculous. KDW2's were like $60 a piece more for 245/19's

I am curoius what the DOC from Tire Rack has to say about this???

I am getting so 18x8.5 rims and they are sending me 225/40/18's. I am up in the air as to if its better to go with a 235/40/18 since it will throw off the odometor and speedometer some....but will wrap the rim a little better.

225/40R18 has an average rim width range of 7.5" to 9", so 8" would be fine. It is also about 0.3" smaller in overall diameter on average, and that causes the tire to have less load carrying capacity (standard load is max 1,235 lbs., XL or reinforced has max 1,389 lbs.) I don't have the GAWR numbers for your car, but check your door jamb to see if that lower capacity will be a problem or not. We don't list the 245 as a "recommended" fitment, not sure what you have to do to make that work on the back.
