heres a little background on the car...
i have a '98.5 1.8tqms, apr chipped with ~78k miles. the turbo boosts fine and holds 15psi to about 5k, drops to maybe 10psi by 5500, but wont boost after that... i already know that a k03 doesnt flow at all on the top end but i took a ride in a chipped 1.8t gti (only other engine mod is a muffler... stock size piping, and stock cat too) last night and he was boosting about 15psi as well but he was able to hold ~10psi all the way to the redline. i just changed my ORIGINAL fuel filter (what a PITA by the way) that had 78k miles on it from '98 [down] anyway, i havent taken it out yet to see if the clogged fuel filter was the culprit... maybe it was the engine's way of protecting itself??? any other suggestions??

i already did the tb/wp/etc etc and plugs

on my k03 I held about 10psi up to 6000 and by 7100 I had about 6psi

you ahould definetly be holding at least 10-12psi at redline. and you can't compare an A4 to a GTi or Jetta they have a completly different engine and drivetrain

i wasnt comparing the engine so much as i was comparing the flow of another ko3 non-s to my ko3 non-s

you probably have a leak somewhere

leak or DV isnt holding the boost at the higher levels

very posssible the stock Bypass valve, breaks easyly if chipped, i have stratmosphere Dv and it holds very good unitil 6000rpm 10 psi 7000rpm its around 5psi

I am betting you have a clogged cat... I had the exact same symptoms about 2 years ago, turned out the cat was melted... You can get that cat gutted until you can get a high flow cat.

when my brother bought his gti the cat was toast but it also idled like crap and it threw a code. we work at a dealer and originally they were going to wholesale the car but even though we got the employee price of $500 over the cost of trade in they offered to replace the cat for free (we have the r/o here, as well as the receipt totaling $1300!)... neither of which mine does

well now that my car is at this vw/audi shop getting the porsche brakes done, i told them to gut my cat and put in place a 2.5" straight pipe => stealthy as a mofo

i see lots of guys with an AEB/b5 1.8t in general just run [downstream oxs][drilled short fouler][non drilled short fouler][test pipe] to not throw any codes

this thing should be worth like 2000000hp because i cant pull past 5k anyway!!!
