Since gas prices are starting to go up i think this is will be a good thread for some people.

Just wondering what car you have and what your MPG is. And post mods that will improve MPG.

00' 2.8Q tip... getting around 17mpg with no mods.

for $20 i get 130-140miles on 01 1.8tqms

04-06-2007, 10:39 AM
On a full tank, i'll usually get 340 miles. That is a lot of "city" driving and short trips. Also, I've had a "Lean Condition" CEL for some time, so I imagine that doesn't help much. [down]

ive been getting like 300 miles on a full tank... and as much as i try not to stomp the gas i cant get much better then 17 or 18 miles per gallon

04-06-2007, 10:46 AM
i got 360 last tank =)

04-06-2007, 10:48 AM
I have been getting really crappy mileage for a while now: not more than 260 miles per tank. I drive like a maniac though. The best I ever got was 400 miles on tank on a long trip - I was following my wife going about 65 mph for 700 miles...

I have changed out the fuel filter, plugs, and removed my cat - still no change...I keep telling myself "this will be the week that I drive 60-65 to work every day" but I can't....bring.....myself....to....do it.

haha damn... would a new intake be of any benifit you think?? since they done have much horse power effect on the 2.8 id figure better gas millage would be the only reason i would get it.

04-06-2007, 10:55 AM
i pressed the trip button last time i filled up and i've got half a tank to go before i can figure out my mpg, but im guessing its around 20. i probably waste tons of gas going to school doing 75-80. i want a 6 speed :(

04-06-2007, 11:05 AM
in my 2.8 i get 2 gallons per mile.
or atleast it seems like it.

04-06-2007, 11:09 AM
My 2.8 has been averaging 22.5 mpg lately.

04-06-2007, 11:11 AM
These numbers are what it averages just driving normally. If there is heavy traffic or I get on it a lot they can go down 10 mpg or more. These are tank averages. I usually fill up at 350 in town and 425 on road trips. I missed an exit and filled up at 500 once. It was on fumes.
34 on the freeway
38 on the highway
27 commuting in the city
-4 mph with the air conditioning on for all of the above. +3-5 mpg for skinny and hard all season tires. The above numbers were with wide sticky (160 treadwear) tires.

I get around 300+ city

500+/- on the highway

04-06-2007, 12:29 PM
Im pretty sure Im getting 33 mpg average, and I drive hard a lot....not 100% cuz I have some lines out on my trip display,...but I'm almost positive, I never have a full tank, so Im not sure what I get to a tank

04-06-2007, 12:34 PM
I got about 400 on a full tank going to seaside. ~30 MPG average.

04-06-2007, 01:10 PM
I used to get close to 23mpg in the city and that is down to 20 mpg and I once got 28mpg on the highway going to Moab with my bike on the roof with AC full blast in the middle of August! I have not gotten this good since

04-06-2007, 01:59 PM
~23mpg: all city. Chipped, exhausted, cat-less (soon to change) but with fresh plugs and a clean air filter.

04-06-2007, 02:31 PM
i get 24 mpg unless i beat on it then i get 22 and 26 for highway driving

04-06-2007, 03:16 PM
If I keep my foot out of the pedal, I get high 20's - but I average 25mpg. '99 1.8t

04-06-2007, 08:42 PM
i average 15.3 according to my trip meter in my 2.8

04-06-2007, 09:43 PM

04-06-2007, 10:43 PM
i get about 19 per gallon, basically what the sticker says. I think on the original sticker it said 19 city and 23 highway which is what i get.

04-06-2007, 10:47 PM
Man i think something is wrong with my car then, if u guys are hitting 300+ im only getting 450km(canada) and i use sunoco 94 all the time since i daily drive with apr93, is there something i should do to gain better mileage? or is there something wrong with my car

04-06-2007, 11:21 PM
^^ well for one thing stay off boost, i know its sad but i been told that also, check sensors. and maybe do a seafoam treatment it helped me

04-07-2007, 12:20 AM
250 miles off a full tank in my 2.8. i dont floor it at all, somethings fishy. although i do make alot of short trips. most are one freeway exit away.

04-07-2007, 01:34 AM
310mi a tank, center displays reads 22.9mpg, sometimes 23.0

04-07-2007, 03:28 AM
I'm at 260 miles... with half a tank still to go. :D I've been usually filling up around 400, just so the damn light turns off.

04-07-2007, 01:41 PM
i get about 19 per gallon, basically what the sticker says. I think on the original sticker it said 19 city and 23 highway which is what i get.

Same for me.

18-19 city.

I never see a highway. When I go on road trips I get 22+

04-07-2007, 02:29 PM
i average between 22-25. Mostly city driving. Last time i took a long drive, 28.9 highway.

04-07-2007, 05:30 PM
I'm getting about 340-360 miles per tank (24 mpg) with mostly highway miles, but I do get on it alot on the backroads.

Do the avants have a larger tank, because over 400 is crazy!! I'm sure it could be done, but I don't have the patience to drive that easy :)
