Rosati you are cracking me up. Why don't you just enjoy your 28rs and move up from there. I personally, would make a larger jump because you might end up saying (I think I feel the difference [:(] ) if you go from gt28rs to 71r.

Aaron are you running a full gt2871r or an eliminator?

well I've always had the 2871r eliminator and that track is a 1/8mile and I ran a 8.4 at 85mph and he ran a 8.9 at 74mph, ohh and that was pump gas and 20psi

If your power doesn't drop off at all that 8.4 = 13.02 1/4 mile ET.

well I had it installed right after the downpipe and I haven't installed the electronic actuator on it yet but I will buy it someday but it cost me 40 bucks at this race shop here and it looks exactly this here on ebay..... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Flowtech-Race-Readies-EXHAUST-CUT-OUT-3-USED_W0QQitemZ320099222744QQihZ011QQcategoryZ42610 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Mike,

That was an issue back when I first got the car after having the stand alone installed. I think it had to do with hitting the rev limiter in 1st gear which causes the ecu to pull 40 degs of timing. The other issue was the 50mm Tial BOV which would release too much air during shifting. In that video of the 11.4 I was doing just normal shifting by lifting off the throttle completely. Since then I blocked off some of the BOV and only lift a little off the throttle(my normal race shifting) and the car doesn't fall on its face as much. Other problem is the 2.8 trans since the jump between 1st and 2nd is slightly more then the 1.8t trans so the rpms drop more. I am also going to stiffen up the front end so there is no forward weight transfer during shifts, this can be done by placing bushings on the shock so it acts like a taller bump stop.

I was thinking the 2.8 tranny had something to do with it.... dropping back to 4k with gt35r even with 2.0 stroker is just wasting time.

Well if I shift before 8k rpms it will drop to about 4500, this is why I have a 8500 rpm rev limiter so I can take it to over 8k in 1st gear. If I could do WOT shifting in my car the problem would be gone completely, but up to this point I have not been able to make flat shifting work with my clutch setup.

Don Supreme

Is it an issue with the 034 setup or your clutch? I know some VW guys have done it with the autronic unit.

It is my clutch which is a 4800 lbs dual diaphram 6 puck setup. When I try to flat shift it wont go into the next gear even with the clutch pushed to the floor. But I haven't had a chance to try since I put in all the solid engine and tranny mount.

Yes I think a BAT should imply a built motor, even though I don't have one yet. I will soon.

Mike, if your having probs keeping the revs up on the 1 to 2 shift, try this, i had the 2.8trans aswell, but wasnt a issue for me with the gt28r. When shifting, start to slam the clutch in while still wide open, let the rpms blip, while shifting at the same time, clutch out and wide open again. Thats the best i can explain it, and its alot to do fast, but if you cant power shift with the clutch, maybe not be a bad idea to try it. Just an idea, hope we see a 10 sec slip from you this year.

Don Supreme
04-05-2007, 12:19 PM

That is pretty much how I normally shift during racing. I tend to pull the shifter out before even pushing the clutch and still stay on the throttle about 50-75%. But an issue is that I am already shifting just before the rev limiter in 1st gear so the rpms really cant climb any higher, during the rest of the shifts I am shifting a bit sooner. The odd thing is that I dont always get that 1st-2nd gear shift issue of it falling on its face, some times it just pulls hard right as I get into 2nd gear. The last few times I went to the track I could nearly pull hard once I got into 2nd gear but I did not have a video camera at that time and I did not have anyone else with me to video tape the car. Sucks that they dont do vids at the IDRC events.

I should be hitting the track later this month for some shake down runs and testing, this will happen at SAC again just like last time since it is 2 hrs away from 034's shop. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Edit: Anyone who has dragged knows this is way easier said than done. Isn't that the truth. Now just think how hard it is to jump car to car at the track and put down some great times in each one.[:p]

Well it should just be anything bigger then a rs/71r. Plenty of people running those on stock motors and we dont want to exclude them from the BAT club, so a BAT+ will do for me or anyone making 400+whp(uncorrected) in an A4.[:D]

Def harder to do then what people think mike. Since were talking 1/8 times, first time to the track with my s4 i ran 8.9 with just a borla exhaust, now it has slightly :) :) more hp, ill head back on 100oct and see what i can put down. The S4 trannys just suck in general, so i dont even attempt, just smash through them. Ive actually thought about putting my 2.8trans in my S4, i can pound on that thing all day long with no probs, the s4 1 to 2 shift is terrible, and can only take a number of hard shifts and you need a rebiuld, so im done ramming that gear so it slows me down a good .1 being easy on that shift. Cant wait to get back there, ran 13.9 before it was even chipped and and on a clutch that had 110k on it, now with my rs4 clutch and Apr race, i think i can shave a 1sec off.
