I am planning to get set of rims/tires , the tires are Pirelli P6 fours seasons, I am planning to used them as my summer setup , no racing or crazy driving will be involved the mixed review was winter which I am not planning to use, but they mention that they don't last long then 10k-15k and they hydroplane when try to stop in raining day ... are they that bad.. or just ignore the comments people made..

They really are that bad. They are horrible tires as a matter of fact. I have owned two sets... They came stock on an '02 allroad and a '01 Volvo V70. We replaced both with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S rubber and the difference was night-and-day.

The P6's had decent grip on dry roads, but they were useless on anything wet or frozen. On top of this, they produced a road noise that was deafening. At the limits of performance, they would simply let go unpredictably.

Totally unacceptable tires in my opinion. In fact, my experience with the P6 has pretty much kept me away from Pirelli ever since.

My car came with the P-6's and I have to agree with va-terps4. After a little wear they were loud and slippery. They also wore out in about 25K miles. I would keep looking for something else.

Let's put it this way. Those P6's come stock on the Ford Focus. Why would you want to put them on your sports sedan. If you're looking for summer tires get a set with a higher treadlife rating. Somewhere above 300 should be pretty decent. I have Kumho Ecsta SPT's and they're good. If you want something even to last longer get a set of Yokohama Avid H4's with the 500 treadwear rating. Closest all season to a summer tire.

I'm going to have to disagree with the Yokohama Avids. I have them now and am trying to decide what to buy next. They have worn evenly but I doubt they will go past 25K miles. I have a set of Bridgestone G009's on my '03 MB 230K (225/45/17) and they have tread left at 45K. They will probably go to 50K. The only real drawback on the B-Stones is that for an all season tire they are terrible in any amount of snow.

I had a set on my A4 as well and I hated them, so I add me to the list of people who will never buy a set of those again. I am on ny second set of Kumho Ecsta SPT's (performance tire) and they have been an ok tire. The first set I got some road noise after about 14,000 miles so I replaced them and yes I rotated them every 5,000 miles. I feel like they just might have been a poor set of tread so I swapped them out and I am going to try them one more time. Disount Tire agreed with me and gave me a nice credit toward my new tires. If they don't last long again then I'm going to The Potenza RE960AS Pole Position (all season tire). I live in OH and would rather keep my tires on all year so this next time I'm going to get all season tire. I know its bad, but f..k it there only wheels.
