as you all may already know, a4rob did his interior with black ultrasuade, when i saw i had to do it, so i did. hereare pics of how i did it. enjoy and hopefully some one can use it to do theirs.

take the door card off of the door and remove the black cover from the back.

http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p148/pipe7284/STP60914.jpg

then gently brake the plastic clips that is holding the palstic mold wrapped in the grey leatherette. use a small blade.

http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p148/pipe7284/STP60918.jpg

then remove the leatherette smoothly by pulling.
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p148/pipe7284/STP60919.jpg

after having the plastic mold clear, i applied glue (in spray) and wrapped it with black ultrasuade.
(sorry no pics of it before putting on the door card)

but i got a shot of it like this.
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p148/pipe7284/STP61085.jpg

and then lastly i did my headliner, i applied it on top of the eom one. jsut sprayed it with thegule and wrapped it with the ultrasuade. (if you see closely i broke some of the side moldings (seatbelts) trying to get it off. so be carefull)
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p148/pipe7284/STP60971.jpg

well thats that. hope you all enjoyed. i am very pleased of the outcome. i love it.
once again, Thanks A4ROB and my girlfriend for helping me.

Nice. I did mine a few months ago. You don't have to take the door apart like that though. You just gotta tuck the suede with a knife. Its actually really easy. Good job again though

pipe7284
03-30-2007, 06:24 AM
^^^^ that is alot easier and less work if you do it that way. but i did it the other way so i can put little extra suade hangin outso when the mold is mountd again i=on the door card, the suade will have pressure and wont come off like the leatherette did.

btw- i am a big fan of you car.

wow, i worked on mine till 10 pm last night. i got the headliner covered, have to finish trimming it and reinstall on sunday. door cards will be next, as well as the rear deck. what a pain in the ass. i tried to cover over the oem fabric and it started to pull off the headliner. no big deal, we ripped off the oem stuff and sanded the old headliner down and added the suede. getting the handle pockets covered was a bitch. in the end i know it will all look great, and i know others have been through the same. pics to come soon.

not being picky, but is that a wrinkle in the handle bucket in the last pic? i had a hell of a time getting mine smoothed out, i used the round end of a screwdriver handle and a hair dryerto get the wrinkles out. the hardest part was around the sunroof motor hump and then down into the sunvisor recesses. your work looks very good. i cant wait to finish mine. i got my hands on a full set of s4 handles, trim, visors, and sunroof slider [what a pain in the ass to remove and replace]cant wait to have a full black interior.

i must be an over achiever. i did everything. i did the headliner, door cards, and painted everything black to match. i also covered the a,b, and c pillars and the sunroof cover. took me a few days, but damn it looks good.

is ultrasuede and microsuede different from real suede? i had to use real seude, cuz no fabrics store around carried anythings else. definately not easy to work with, and there are only 2 spots, that got a little bunched up(not that noticable).

^^I'm kind of on the same page as you. I personally wouldn't do it to my car. However, it might look better on a black interior. The contrast between the suede and the sunroof/handles/etc. is a little awkward for my liking.

Like you said, maybe I'd change my mind if I saw it in person.

i wanted to do this except the handles, sunroof and visors are holding me back. euro if you did it...give us a write up on how you handle those. i supose that i can paint the handles whatever color but the sunroof, visors, a, b, c pillars are the challenge.

ok, ill have to get pictures tonight or tomorrow. im in class all day right now. but just so you know the sunroof is challenging. i had to take the sunroof off to even do it, and the slider cover piece is a bastard to get off. The A pillar is cake, but the b and c were a lot harder. took a lot of trial and error to figure it out and to make it look good. my interior is black, so i think it flows good. i like how a4rob did his car, but the handles and b and c pillars not being black would have driven me nuts. all i did was paint the handles and other plastic pieces. im gonna have to take my visors to someone and have them wrap them in suede, i tried and they look like shit...lol.

yeah let me see them pics. i know the sunroof is a bish. my a-pillar has a pod on it so i plan on making it like the spp pillar. so i need a lil bondo to sand down and smooth it out. i have all black interior too, cept our roof is light gray along with pillars, visors, etc. so i haven't done anything cuz i don't really want to take apart the sunroof. i know its a pita.

i just almost finished my interior last night. i wasted alot of money buying s4 parts, none of the parts fit because i dont have side airbags. i did use the visors and handles though. i might be able to use the b pillar. i will paint the c pillar. and i plan on wrapping the a pillar and double pod with suede as well. i ended up with a few wrinkles in the very front of the roof near the visor indents. what a huge pain in the ass this was. i still have to put my sparcos back in. i took us an hour to put my rollbar back in [ i forgot how hard that was] with just a little more touch up i will be done. im just glad to see im not the only one doing this, hopefully im not the only one that had problems doing this. i am really impressed with the finished product.

ok, here a few quick shots. from the pics you can see that i did the door cards, b pillar and c pillar. i just wasnt sure if i could cover up those little vent looking things on the b pillar because i had no clue if they were alarm related or not. i still gotta paint the gray on the b pillar black. In the pics the black plastic looks a lot darker then it really is. i assure you that it matches the car. make sure to use the right glue. i ran out and had to use some crap stuff on part of the headliner and other door cards. now i gotta fix it......damnit.

I used closed cell foam in the insides of my doors to help cancel out standing waves in my stereo, I used spray glue found here (http://www.raamaudio.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?p=pr) and it works great.

i really just got some plastic kind of black spray at this local auto part store. it matches the plastic like the e brake and vent really well.

the red isnt exactly hibiscus. it is really close though. i looked everywhere and got many samples, but this was my best and closest option. it isnt as dark as the hibiscus, but the other closest sample i had would have been WAY to dark inside teh car without as much lighting on the inside. it would have looked more people. what i used, looks very very similar to hibiscus when you are sitting inside the car.

just beware, this took a lot mroe suede then i anticipated. mainly its because the b and c pillars took some practice, and the fact that i also did the sunroof. plus, this took A LOT of time. the suede i used didnt stretch at all, and some parts of the headliner took forever to do. also, i had to use seperate pieces of sude to be able to cover the b and c pillars, but i think it was well worth it. ill try to take the pillars out tomorrow to get better pictures of how i used different pieces of suede.

I was thinking about doing Louis Vuitton in my car, but I've seen a few cars with it. I have a really good idea, and am actually having someone look into getting fabric for me (that I cannot find ANYWHERE on the internet). Its a fairly common clothing company, but I have never seen an interior done with it. I was just talking to my cousin, and she said it'd be tight as hell. I feel like an ass for not telling you guys what it is, but if I do it I kinda want it to be a surprise... It'd definitely be original.

I don't know about the designer fabrics in an a4. I had a friend do some Louis Vuitton in his impala, or it might have been burberry and it looked pretty good. A whole headliner would be way too gawdy. He did Louis vuitton in his range rover and it looked really good. But only accents.

You name it, any designer... ive seen it in cars before... from Gucci, Burberry, LV, Coach DG, DB, Prada, Fendi, the list goes on... its nothing new, honestly, id say go for it if you think youd like it... might be a little hard when resale comes along....

Ive even seen denim inside some cars.... any hot import nights youll see the SUV section usually escalades filled with designer fabric... which is all fake anyways since the actual designers DO NOT sale the real deal to the public.

Id say go for it, if you dont like the outcome, then you could always just take it off and do it over [up]

Oh, its not like any of those, and to anyone I have suggested the idea to, they all seem to think it would be the ONLY original way to go about it. Its the same concept, but with a different twist. And I was thinking only do the door cards to start out, and then maybe the inserts in the middle of the seat - but I feel that may be too much. I have to see if they even have what I am looking for first... a friend is going to call someone she knows who works for them to see who to contact about getting what I need, or if it even exists.

If not - I'll probably go ultrasuade as well.

i should have the car back together on thursday. i still have to cover the a-pillar and gauge pod with suede. that is getting done on thursday. the car really needs a bath after sitting all winter, i have to get ready for the spring show and go.

i destroyed my c-pillars trying to take them off, i have to get new ones. i`ll see if i get them in black, instead of painting.

Which sound deadener did you use?

The only one listed on that page, the RAAMmatt BXT. Works great :)

they never came in black. if you have side airbags the s4 ones should fit. i have a set of them half covered in black suede. i also have the a, and b pillars. the b's are black, and the a's are covered in black suede. i would be willing to sell all , let me know

ok, here a few quick shots. from the pics you can see that i did the door cards, b pillar and c pillar. i just wasnt sure if i could cover up those little vent looking things on the b pillar because i had no clue if they were alarm related or not. i still gotta paint the gray on the b pillar black. In the pics the black plastic looks a lot darker then it really is. i assure you that it matches the car. make sure to use the right glue. i ran out and had to use some crap stuff on part of the headliner and other door cards. now i gotta fix it......damnit.

sunroof slider piece, and b pillar....

in materials it was around $100 plus or minus some. Just consider the time. it took a lot longer to do all this, than it would the normal stuff. I like the trun out though. i just gotta touch up a few spots when i have some time.
