Are 2001 1.8t's 5 valve? It says 5v turbo on the motor. I searched for this and came up with 20v. I am stupid with this stuff.

I am asking because I just bought an '01 1.8t quattro- manual and want to get a chip for it but I am not sure what all I need to know so that I purchase the correct chip. I was thinking of GIAC or APR but it seems there are 2 different engine codes for 2001.

5v per cylinder... 4cylinders...= 20v.

Your car is a dbw (drive by wire). And if you open your hood there is a box at the back right corner (drivers side) that contains your ECU, open it up and you should see a silver box looking thing which is your ECU, on top of which should be an ECU code, which will also help you describe what you need to who ever your buying your chip from.

check out the classifieds for used chips.
