I'm sorry to post cause I usually don't cause I can usually find the answer with the search feature but I couldn't find too much related info about it.

My car: bone stock 2001 1.8 turbo with ~75k miles

For some time now, the car would stutter at medium to high acceleration. From what I can tell, the turbo would pitch up and suddenly hickup and than pitch up again throughout the rev range.

From the possiblities, could it be because of:
coil packs
timing belt
dieing turbo
sparkplugs
bad premium octane
restricted air intakes
or...
is it something else I left out?

Thanks,
~Khai

I would, but the only video recording device I have is my phone, I don't know how good the quality would be.

I'm surprised it took this long:

Get it VAG'd or scanned at Auto Zone or something and post the codes here.

Are you running stock boost? If your running a manual boost controller its going into safe mode
CEL on? If not you can rule out ingnition failure (coils, spark plugs)
Do you have a boost gauge?

Need more info..... Go to autozone at least and get codes or you will end up having people tell you to throw parts at it and hope it fixes it.

Alright! I'll stop by autozone at the first chance. I don't have a boost gauge or a boost controller. I am talking about bone stock from the dealer =).

Thanks for the help.

could be a boost leak

If the car is sputtering as soon as boost builds, it usually means that your sparkplugs need a smaller gap.

Just as a guideline:

NGK BKR6E @ 0.028"

you can also run:

NGK BKR7E @ 0.028" but...

They run about 80C cooler and will foul out after a short amount of time. If you're at stock or chipped boost levels, use the BKR6E.
