Upgrading to projectors/ Newb

Hello all, as you might know i just got my first Audi. (nevermind the missing centercap )

The only thing that really bothered me about the car was that it didnt come with the projector HID headlights. I have done retro jobs like in my last car:

And i dont feel like going through that again, especially since the A4's have projectors stock. I was reading and saw that there is an auto-level system to go along with the projectors. Has anyone upgraded from the regular headlights to the projectors without that system? Does the cars angle change that much in the rear that it is necessary? I would like to upgrade but all the projectors ive seen on eBay etc dont come with it, and id rather not wire it in.
Also, i saw that the cars come pre-wired for HID's and that the plugs are identicle. I know that i would have to VAG them into the car, but will i need to splice new connectors or are the halogen and HID connectors the same?
Sorry for all the questions, but id like to get this taken care of, and i dont know much about Audis.

well i might be able to help you with that, as i post yesterday on the some people should die thread , check ebay germany they have already audi headlights, with the clear corners, and the agel eyes ,plus all the adapters and wiring need it for plug and play i believe, i might also be wrong someone correct me if i am, i dont really speak or read german, so give it a check search by audi b7, 2007 audi a4, 8e audi, etc

someone just did this retrofit about 2 weeks ago, you are looking at around 950$ on parts.

i can do it for under $500. Ive got a bit of HID/LED work under my belt, and have a few ballasts/leds sitting around, and a few connections at local salvage yards.

I have did many retro fits in my life, I sold a lot of projectors on eBay too, E46 Projectors, S2000, TSX, etc, it would probably cost you around $300-$400 dollars right now at the most with the price of projectors/ballast going down so much.

My suggestion tho is not to do the retro fit. I purchased my car with no HIDs/Projectors back in December of 2005 and I right away purchased the HID projector headlamps from the dealer for $720 for both sides (had my friend who works at a body shop pick them up with his discount) and all I did was pop the harness out of the stock headlamps I had and cut the wires and connected the Halogen harness to the HID projector lamps. Also, on the passenger side I had to add length, since the harness on the projector headlamps are on a different side then the halogen ones. I also had to relay power from the cars battery. Pretty sure I do not have to go into detail since you are pretty experienced already, but if I do, I'm glad to help, just PM me.
