I'm about to take delivery of an 07 avant and want to know if the OEM $1000 Bose system is worth the $$...
I'd definitely like a nice sound system and havent really heard anything but the Bose system in a friend's B6, so is the stock system crap or will it work out ok? I'm listening to a lot of different music, so some nice highs and lows are a must.
Suggestions?

I actually think the stock system is pretty good! A heck of a lot better than my premium system in my 5 series.

I have an avant and the bose and I have to say i'm impressed by the quality. The sound is very high quality given a good source, but if you do like your base you may have to add a 12 inch sub.[:D]
Audi gave me a loan car b4 mine was delivered and that was non- bose and it sounded shit , it was a free upgrade at the time I ordered but TBH i'd spend the $1000 on it .
Im thinking about swaping the HU with this though http://www.pioneer.co.uk/images/products/carnavigationpackage/pioneer/audia4_large.jpg
Just so I can colour match with the dash

I'm going to say that I would agree with this statement given you have $1K cash on hand to blow on a system upgrade. If you got it as part of your financing basically because that makes it a cost you won't really see, than the Bose was worth the upgrade and you can modify the head unit and add a sub for even more bass and a little better sound later on. I've heard a lot of Bose systems and I have to say the B7, and Audi in general, Bose system is a very nice sounding system as far as Bose Automotive systems go. The stock Symphony is terrible, but as soon as you add a head unit to it, that pretty much goes away, but then it becomes weak in the bass dept. and is in desperate need of a sub. I'm getting my 12" JL put in this weekend.[:D]

I've had Bose in my old B6 & non-Bose in my current B7. Here's my opinion:
1) The Bose system sucks.
2) The non-Bose base system sucks even worse.
3) The Bose upgrade is not worth the $1000 price tag.

I agree totally! [up] No one should give Bose $1,000.00 for what you get. Is it better? Maybe. Can you get 10x better sound quality going aftermarket for the same money? YES!!

The Logic-7 is way better than the symphony II no mater how you put it. However I do think the Symphony is better than most OEM sets
Ps. The Logic 7 has to be well equalized
yea the bose is not worth 1k. I spent 1100 on a nav/dvd headunit, and it instantly made my stereo sound better. symphony sucks too.. bah.

Bose system sucks in cars... They sound better in home theater sytems.
I mean, the stock system is okay for what it is, but it's not great...
Not worth the 1k IMO.[up]
Put it towards another system of your own and make it your own![:D]
