I am going to take my car in for a boost leak test, will a faulty DV or faulty PCV show on it?

I don't think either are faulty, but I just want to make sure.

Ps. On D the car reads 15 vac, 20 vac on N, and peaks at 18-19 Psi at full boost, and drops to 9-10 Psi approaching redline. I think I am leaking

A typical boost leak test will definitely show the DV, but not the PCV. The DV on my old B5 was leaking and it cut the boost to 12psi from 17psi.

I just took out the Dv and it looks Ok.

Could it be the PCV ?

Very to easy to boost leak test yourself. Check A4mods.com for a DIY. I did mine last weekend and found a leak, bought the replacement part at the dealerhship for $20. Saved a ton on diagnostic.

LOL, sorry, for me it was the "L-hose" on my B6. I even checked this hose by hand and didn't notice the leak. It wasn't until I pressurized the system did I find where it had split. Leaks aren't easy to find without pressure. For $14 I built an adapter to fit into the Turbo intake hose and onto my air compressor. Heard the leak on the first try, identified the hose on the 2nd, and found the split on the 3rd. Very easy.

Ha Ha! Yeah, I was thinking: "why is this guy teasing us with this information?". I knew the L-hose was an issue with the B5's, but I didn't know that weak spot existed on the B6's as well. [rolleyes] Thanks Audi!

At least you had the ambition to make a leak tester. The guy that own my old B5 was too lazy and he just paid $200.00 to have the dealer tell him that his DV was leaking!

Anyway, thanks for sharing. [up]

Well good thing I am not going to the dealer for that.
Since I am installing my Vogtlant suspension the same day, they do it free of charge.
I am a frequent customer. ( Some say too frequent )
