Which Sway Bar? I've installed 2 of the 19mm Neuspeed Rears with the Support Brackets. You need the front or rear?

I've got H-Sport S4 sways. The rear is 24mm and the front is 35mm (i think). Anyhow, I'm looking to have the rear put in.

Can you help?

the rears are easy on most cars. When ken and I installed them on my car the fronts took like an hour and a half, but the rear took like 20 min. it was just basicly taking off 6 bolts and re-greasing some parts and done.

I heard the takes no longer than 30 minutes if that. Who can help a brotha out?

Dude, if I lived closer I would help you forsure. It just sucks, I live in San Luis Obispo (most the time, because going to Cal Poly) but its not hard and you'll save $100 dollars of install cost by doing it your self

Here's what I've got.

Front and Rear Sways
4 Bushings & 4 Brackets
2 Front Bushing Mounting Plates

I don't have grease packets because I bought them from someone.

If you can help that would be great. Would have to get an alignment? I'm looking to only have the rear done.

no need for an alignment, but you do want the some grease to grease up your bushings, or else your car will squeak on every turn. What are you doing about the front???

figure I can pick some grease up at a local auto store. I want to put the front but someone suggested putting the rear on and see how it drives.

What do you think?

I say you drive out to Active Monkey and have him help you out. Hes a wiz dude. You can always take it to SW in Palo Alto.

I agree with doing just the rear and see how you like it. What do you have now? Your sig says "previously B7"

well on at least most cars you will notice the biggest difference in the front, thats why the fronts are always larger then the rears. But there shouldnt be any reason why you wouldnt like them.

On the Audis..since from the factory they are understeering pigs..the rear bar upgrade has the most bang for the buck. I have done about 12-16 installs...mostly the Neuspeed..but I have done a few H-Sports.

makes sense due to the extra weight, and sense they are awd

Daddy MO

Well... naturally our cars will push (understeer) and you have to tune in that area. Leave the front alone and add the stiffness to the rear to induce oversteer. You can also soften the front or add a smigen of negative toe in or a smigen of camber and caster.

Active Monkey and myself are working out the details but I think I'll be heading over to his place for the install. You gotta love the internet. I'm old school (mini-truck days) and I use to rely on word of mouth or magazines to find things out. LOL

If the rear is what I should start with, what is the purpose of the front. I thought both sold as a kit would mean that they work together?

Kievskiy
03-20-2007, 09:07 AM
...i say do them both and then you'll see the difference...

ActiveMonkey

I think we should throw them both on. Start off with the rear on "Soft" drive around for a bit. Then throw it into "Hard" and drive for a bit. Which ever you like better. I have my Neuspeed set to "Hard" to help counter understeer, but that's just me.

Props to Active Monkey!!

He installed both front and rear sway bars today and install went smooth.

H-Sport S4 Sway Kit is the way to go!

I was really amazed how much easier they were to install them my Neuspeed. The only tricky part was pulling the old rear sway bar out.

Did you test with just the rear first or did you just jump right into both?

Nice job Nick!!!

We actually did the front first, he tested it, then we did the rear on the more aggressive setting.

On my way home that day as I passed the caldacott tunnel back into Oakland and you come down the mountain. I mashed right through that turn while passing this Supra (moded). He caught up to me and and gave me a thumbs up and my shit is stock, well except for being chipped. I would totally recommend everyone to replace their OEM toothpicks!

Thanks again NICK!

ActiveMonkey,

I am looking to get some H-Sport Sways and install on my B6 S4...would you be willing to help me out? From the sounds of it, you know what you are doing!

I live in San Carlos on the peninsula, but would be more than willing to come over to your house.

TIA.

Chatterbox: J/P but yeah dude, heart pounding adreneline especially while chopping it up with another car. Stoopid? Hell yeah! Afterwards and everytime I drive that way doing the speed limit, I think to myself how stupid it was and if I had lost it how bad the outcome would be.

AtotheS... get in line buddy im next [cool] Nick, looks like we are probably going to have to do the swap at your pad. I will bring a jack and some stands. Let me know if you need any other tools. We can work out the $ thing that day. The guy is also charging me for the swap but ill kick you down too.

How much the shop quote you?

ActiveMonkey, feel free to say no, but I figure this will be much more fun than taking it to the shop and have them do the work.

The money savings doesn't matter, but learning how to do this by watching, especially from another enthusiast is far more interesting to me.

Don't know your location, but BRRacing can do that for you. They are located in Los Gatos and are one of the cheapest shops around. Send them an email to [email protected]

I definitely recommend participating in the install. Even though I found it a pain in the butt (bushings...who needs bushing?!?) I still enjoyed it.

rear is better if set on more stiff setting;)

they way we did it is if you unbolt the exhaust haners near the tips and slide the sway out and over the mufflers it was a lot easier. Maybe 5 minutesaking out and 5 minutes putting in.
