so my lower side mouldings are falling off, big news flash i know... but until they fell completely off i was unaware that there was anything but plastic clips holding them in place. the front-most clip on each door happens to be metal, but has so badly deteriorated, that i cant tell what its supposed to look like in the first place

thats just part of the old molding stuck on there where you screw it into the door, just pry it off and put the new ones on

until you mentioned that, i dont ever recall seeing the screw holding that on from the opposite side of the door [up]

What I don't get is how you screw it into the door.. I understand how the rest clips/slides on, but I see no hole to screw it in!

The screw goes in from the inside.

i fixed these awhile ago

*EDIT* just realized you were talking to someone else - the hole for the screw on the inside of the bottom of each door sits about an inch or two back from the front of the door

You're saying I have to take the panel off to get to the screw hole from the inside out? The moulding fell off already and I see the screw head going from the outside in! Ie it goes through the outside of the moulding and into the door (of course the moulding is a solid piece).

There is only 1 screw per door, you dont have to remove the door panel... In his last two pics, the clips that has the screw in them are the metal ones (the ones with rust) If you open the door all the way you will see the phillips screw all the way to the front of the door jam. Your new molding will come with the metal clip built in

Thanks so much! I didn't realize the screw head was on the inside of the door... mine fell off and I thought I saw a rusted screw head on the outside of the door!

It's all in now and looking back to normal!
