Okay ziners, I decided not to sell the big turbo kit that I never installed on my B6. After paying $1700 for the kit one year ago, I have realized that it is barely worth $1000 considering everybody who can afford BT goes with the GT28RS eliminator instead.

So with that being said and the situation at hand, I have decided to use it on the 2.0T. I went over to our local vegas shop "Black Sheep", who specialize mainly in VWs but are known to have a good reputation in the area for german customization.

The said they would build me a custom manifold, make it work with the test pipe and construct a downpipe that would match up perfectly to my B6 thermal exhaust setup.

I will then disconnect the wastegate so the turbo is "off" and then drive the car on the N/A 2.0 to California where REVO will custom tune. The concern here is that there isnt any available fuel upgrades yet.[confused] So I guess the tune will be somewhat conservative.

The car currently has APR software (91 and 100 octanes) which I absolutely love. But APR apparently, according to my distributor, will not sell programming only for that turbo without purchasing the entire kit from them.[down] Let me say again, I love my APR software and would love to pay only $25 for the lifetime upgrade of software but they do not offer programming a la carte.

Several Questions and comments I have that any of you could answer.
1. My car already runs very rich, there is a lot of black smoke under full boost and it definately reeks of exhaust out the back. A bigger turbo under the same programming would lean out the car but would it lean it too much? If it leaned it slightly, can I expect power gains from bigger turbo same programming? Would it be beneficial to run the 100 octane program all the time under this condition?

2. Would the car drive 300 miles with the wastegate disconnected?

3. Are there any recommendations any of you can think of that I need to make to my custom installers? Any tips or tricks?

I have to say its great to see someone doing something interesting and performance oriented. I have had all the BOV, and reflector threads i can take. I think there may be more to this than unhooking your turbo and driving 300 miles. I would imagine your ECU will go bananas after you start unhooking things and driving around. This sounds like it might work out better with the work being done in one place. Good luck with your project. Where is the Denvernoob? He could probably shed some light on a few of your questions.

The fuel system is maxed with a chipped K03. Injector on-time is already at 150% Bosch recommended window and the fuel pump alreay has problems on some stock cars. You will need to upgrade this but I assume Revo would have told you that and has plans for that or else they wouldnt custom program for a turbo that is not going to make more power than the K03 without other hardware upgrades.

cheers! mike

I wouldn't risk it. Even if you have to rent equipment, I would trailer the car. If it costs you $250 to do it, it's still cheaper than anything it would cost if something went wrong. But then again, thats just my opinion. [up]

Yeah I would just trailer it there; I would think your ECU would go nuts if you just disconnect your turbo

Maybe disconnecting the turbo is not the right idea, maybe i can just stay out of boost. I can drive the car right now 300 miles without boosting a single psi, so maybe ill just make a 5 hour cruise control trip to cali.

Dont Risk it rent a trailor... i wouldnt do that the ECU would freak out

I was thinking what u just said. Just do go into boost. Keep it real conservative. If i dirve real grandma like i never need to use boost

make friends with people that have drag cars, or rock crawlers. they'll most likely have a trailer to transport their cars to and from events.....then maybe then can hook you up with a free ride...

Realistically how would REVO tune your car in Cali when they do not own a R&D faciility or a dyno?

The road you are about to take is going to be a very costly one...sell your 28rs, give it away or donate it to the church.

It is not worth ruining a $34,000 car.

Can't be done. Long grade from stateline to Halloran (?) summit, you'll boost. same with the one between the summit and Baker.

Trailer it!
