It's almost that time of year again... I was looking through a few of my saved photos from cars I had done last year, but didn't get a chance to post on the forums. This one was one of... if not, the last car I did for the season around Thanksgiving for a friend. The warm weather today on the East coast motivated me to throw something up to keep me in the right mindset for the upcoming detailing season. I'm sure there'll be plenty of cars to do, as there's still a ton of ice and salt/sand around, especially on cars. As always, any comments/constructive criticism are appreciated. Thanks and enjoy.

Fortunately, my friend suffers from the same disorder most of us share when it comes to our cars, OCD. That made it a much easier task, but the car still needed some attention when it came to swirls, fine scratches from handwashes, daily driving, etc... He doesn't own a PC or rotary, so I decided to lend him a hand.

Usual Process:

Exterior
- Rims & Tires (Simple Green cut 1:1 & wheel brush)
- Exterior Wash (Meguiar's Gold Class & Grit Guard)
- Clay (Adam's 4 oz & Detail Spray)
- Swirl Removal (Swirl & Haze)
- Polish (Revive)
- Coat #1 (Optimum Spray Wax)
- Coat #2 (Butter Wax)

Interior
- Carpet & Mats (Eureka Mighty Mite)
- Trim (V.R.T.)
- Windows (Stoner's Invisible Glass)

Engine
- Simple Green (cut 1:1) agitated with wheel brush
- Dressed (Adam's V.R.T and In & Out Spray)

Thanks Phil. I'm sure you know how I feel after all this cold weather. Don't you still have to detail the Cayenne?

Thanks John,

Sorry, but the car is actually my friend's car. Helped him detail it close to Thanksgiving of last year. I actually have the G35 Coupe... I'll probably be detailing that soon.

Hey that just means we have cousin cars! The G is just as awesome!

Terrific job on the detail. I'm surprised by what the clearbra film does to the appearance of the finish. I had it installed about 10 days ago and actually went out of my way to try to take some pictures that would accentuate it...and failed.

Vroomx2,

In my opinion, the clearbra is great. I actually have it on my own car and very rarely do I need to polish or clean it. Though... my car doesn't come out of the garage very often during the winter time. I think on my friend's car, it was particularly noticeable because he's had the car since 2003 and does a good amount of highway driving going to and from NY and had never had a proper detail before I helped him out. I went over it once with a polish and there was a good amount of embedded dirt (even after the wash) that came off on the pad. I hesitated to clay the bra in the beginning, but may try it next time with a non-abrasive (less) clay. I'm sure your car is in much better condition and the film is new. So, it won't be as noticeable as this one. Did you get the 3M film? Mine was dealer installed with Autobahnd (sp???), great stuff.

Great points. Yep, mine is the 3M film, and the front of the car was clayed & polished less than a month prior to the installation. For what it's worth, the installer recommend clay & topcoat, but no polish.

Gotcha, thanks for the tip...
