are they actually going to call it the R10 when it has a V10? or still the R8 with a V10 engine? I thought it was going to always be called the R8, since audis numerical character in the name doesnt usually denote displacement.

Does anyone know if there are plans for the V12 TDI? That would be sick as hell, having all of that Tq. in that little car.

If they do make it with the V10, it'll most likely be my next car!

The R8 makes little to no argument over a 911 Carrera. However, a R8 V10 at $120,000 makes a very enticing argument over the 911 Turbo. I see it as the natural progression within 6 months to a year.

im pretty sure the R8, regardless of which engine it has is leaps and bounds above just a 911 carrera. 997 GT3? no, but just the regular carrera it does by far.

^^^you're kidding right? the same as the RS4??? it's more acurate to compare the R8 to the gallardo since it shares the same frame and is mid-engine.

Hmm Porsche comparisons.
NOT EVEN a contest. A 911 is the epitome of long lasting yet simple design that just plain works. A 911 does more with less HP when compared to other sports cars. It has very respectable acceleration numbers despite having way less HP plus it out handles almost every other supercar out there except for a few high priced exotics. All that in a package the is very manageable for everyday driving and comfortable for people of all shapes and sizes (I am 6'4" 280 lbs of linebacker shaped dude and I am very conforable in one)

I do think that the R8 looks like a sweet car, but I to would like to see Audi step up to the plate with some more serious HP (550+ anyway). In a market where even corvettes and smaller turner cars make better times and specs Audi has to give me a reason to spend over 100g on there super car contestant.

Doesnt the V10 in the S6/S8 only have 435 hp? So 15 more hp and with the weight of it being a V10, would it be that much faster?... Turbo FTW ;)

Not to sound like an ass, but has anyone who is complaining about the "lack of power" in the R8 actually driven one?? I haven't either, but none of the reviews that I have read have complained about a lack of power. I'm a little dissappointed in my Audi bretheren. It seems that we are descending into the whole adolescent "My car smoked a Porsche!!! WOOT!!" nonsense that is so pervasive on the ricer forums.

Audi built the car not to compete with Porsche, Ferrari or anyone else for that matter let alone a corvette. The goal of the car was to create a halo car that's build quality and overall character trickles down through the entire lineup. It gets people in the showrooms and "WILL" make some current BMW and MBZ buyers look at Audi in a whole new way. I personaly have been told by Audi trainers that the car put outs much more bhp than 420. Yes it is the RS4 motor, but the intake is totally different and theirfore has increased horserpower. As far as getting the V-10, knowbody knows. Audi has been tight lipped on that and will for quite some time. But here is the thing, there will only be 162 of them in the U.S. the first year. It will be far more rare than a Porsche, and I think most in here should just be happy that Audi is stepping up to the plate and producing cars like this instead of bitching about what horsepower should have been. Car and Driver "who never has a good thing to say about Audi" ticked of a 4.0sec 0-60 using the launch control. Road and track was like 4.2 or something. If those numbers don't make people happy, than what will?
