uhhh, no. too big for a 1.8T

too big even for a 2.0...

Mike Hood is running a GT35R, as well as a few others, and he mentioned swapping internals to make it a GT40R... but he has a built 2.0L and standalone...

youd be redlining before you actually get into boost on a 1.8t

if i was going with something like that, i'd just go with a Garrett Turbo GT47R
gives you another 400 horse power over the smaller 1100hp 35r... just my $.02

just because a turbo is rated for a certain horsepower dosent mean it will make that much.. its just its capabilities

i know mikes 35r isnt making 1100 horsepower

bottom line.. this turbo is too big for such a little motor

GT3540R is usually rated for 600hp.

Have you ever driven a small displacement engine with a large turbo on it??

how about the 2.0 evo engine, they run bt...

most put on a 2.3 stroker kit then run bt, but some don't.

there is your small displacement engine... i believe my roommates evo has a redline of about 7600 (flashed)...so lets not troll the threads, he simply asked a reasonable question.

That would be 600whp and there are fwd's making 700whp, this is on race gas.

Most of the EVO's that stay 2.0 go no larger then GT35r but tend to stay with something like a GT30 size. Even my friends runs a .63 GT35r on his 2.3 stroker Evo8 and was thinking about removing the GT35r to go with something smaller because of the lag.

ok, i dont know why you have to bet on me for asking a question about what is the biggest turbo our cars can handle, dont get me wrong but isnt this a web where we help each other out and talk and find out ideas and new things for our cars, like i have been on here and have seen alot of bs when someone thats new asks a simple questions and they just shit on because of it. a simpe no the turbo is to big for our cars is a fine simple reply but no none of you can just do that. and a simple reply of what the biggest turbo we are able to run would be fine and a great help. but again all of you just bet on people that are just trying to find out info and what is the point of that what does it do ? its does NOTHING but piss people off and make them not want to post or anything because some of you just become a$$ about it.

and you saying that since im a front wheel drive im very limited, i have seen many fwd cars with big turbo with alot of hp if you look around the web you can find fwd car that are over 400hp and yes some of them maybe drag or full out race cars but it still come to my point where that a fwd can still have a big turbo and make alot of hp

So 600hp per bank and yet is still making less hp per liter as a few A4's [confused]

Show us 1 of them that is an Audi and not a JDM car. Try doing that in an A4 with slicks and you will find out how quick those tooth pick front shafts last.

Ok you seem to be me 5 years ago so I will help you out a bit.
1. Keep quiet and read
2. Get your hands greasy and try things out for yourself
3. STOP reading JDM forums/magazines.
4. You own an Audi, not a Honda...if you want to build a drag car then yes I would agree with you but your using the wrong chassis to build a drag car.
Take it from someone who spent $1000's of dollars in a FWD Audi only to have reality hit that Quattro is by far more superior all around.
5. GT45R!?Are you kidding me?Biggest you will probably ever see on a 20V is GT40R...

I think that all has to do with the driver not the car.
Ditto.
GT35R + 2.0 = 500awhp.Stage III audi S4 which is heavier is nowhere near that power level.

Mike, I think it's 1450 rwhp now on the GT35's.

Not bad, puts it in the 300whp/liter(4.6 liter) unless it is the MMR TT GT that is using a 5.4 liter Shelby GT 500 engine to produce that power which would give it a 268whp/liter rating.

A4 Sparks, your not going to get a simple answer, because "whats the biggest turbo for our cars" is not a simple question.

for stock displacement, i wouldnt want any bigger than GT3076
for stock internals, i wouldnt want any bigger than GT2871R
up the displacement to 2.0 to run a GT35

well a quick search on any of the Audi forums would have given him exactly the same results since people have been doing all of these BT setups for many years now.

actually it's a sarcastic comment, and i was trying to make a funny, i guess i'm not that good at it...

Honestly, i would love to see someone with that size of a turbo. it's a monster! I can't afford to get out of my K04 set up.. so call me jealous.

for all of you talking about Evo's: the AMS 8.9 sec evo runs stock 2.0 liter displacement on a gt42r running in the 40+ psi range.. but even that thing has issues with wheel spin [:p].. and that thing is NO WHERE near a road car.. strickly track..

i did read on vortex a little while back of a guy wanting to put a GT42r on his 1.8t. he had a solid lifter head so he had the rpms to use at least a few grand of the powerband.. don't know if he ever did i though

but A4Sparks: listen to what Wizard said. read more and type less

ya gt35r on an evo you are looking of 450+...

but i've seen stgIII s4's walk the gt35 evo's....from a roll (keep that in mind).
weight reductions, thats where its at for the audi's

ya, the ams car is ridic, i think they just did an order for a guy, which included a gt42r kit on his evo...he rapes people on the streets.

you have to remember that it is not all about the peak hp/tq you see on a dyno graph

the reason that the stg3 S4's shine is due to the fact that they have ENORMOUS powerbands.. not that they have huge peak power..

a 350Awhp S4 will keep up with a 400Awhp Evo given they both weight the same

They all use the supercharged 5.4 Liter quad-cam modular V8 from the Lightning pickup. HP per liter can't really be compared without also looking at the power curve. At any given power level the larger displacement engine is at an advantage. A GT35R will make roughly the same peak hp on a 2.0 liter as it will a 3.2 liter but the torque curves are very different. Compare your 2.0 GT35R torque curve to that of a stock Ford GT for proof.

wow, i just saw that GT TT vid and that stuff is completely sick!!!!!! makes me wish that Audi can put some more time and effort and do something like that to their super car.. or the R8 for example.... that 4.2L is disappointing considering B5 S4's reach that power easily. I was talking to a rep at the autoshow the other day, and she said audi is considering a v10 twin turbo for the future of that car... now thats more like it!~
