Has anyone on this forum made custom headers for the 1.8t? my friend and i are toying with the idea of making a sand rail for pismo beach because his uncle has 180 acres here in sacramento (ish area) and he has an amazing machine shop that he has built entire cars in. while building this I have been toying with the idea of custom fabricating headers for my car. concidering I have never delt with headers for turbo;d cars, i dont wanna make a basic booboo that will make me mad.

so has anyone made custom headers? and if so, do you still have the plans or just hints?

headers? a 1.8t has a singular exhaust manifold, so no need for anything to be plural. yes there are aftermarket manifolds. take some time and do some searching.

sry, habit to put "headers" and i have searched. i realize you can buy them, but most arnt great if not for t3/t4. and they cost $$$

i was looking more for advice. i have seen some pics of guys who did it themselves and i wanna hear any tips they might have.

there are plenty of atermarket MANIFOLDS for our cars.

i wouldnt call a turbo manifold a header, or headers.

ATP makes a high flow with the K03/K04 stock location, but there really isnt any room/reason with a stock turbo for a nice tublar manifold.

PES makes a mani as well.

Nice. The shop that balanced my suspension had just finished working on this little toy.

STI block, makes 350-400 hp. I don't remember much else about it. I do know that it doesn't weigh much and has massive amounts of wheel travel.

Trackside Custom Works located on the grounds at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, Michigan. Shannon Griffith runs the place and know his stuff. They do a lot of real race cars there and are right next to the Formula Mazda team's building.

Shannon said he didn't do all of it. I know the engine was from a company that makes them specifically for the buggies. They had to do something interesting to keep that transmission from having 1 forward gear and 5 reverse. Maybe mounted a Porsche trans or something.
