that's awesome but it looks like the exh. housing would dump right into the shock tower....or at least the TP/DP would. What turbo are you going with? do you think it'll cause issues w/ clearance of the DP/TP? That is a work of art BTW. Who's making it for you?

Yea...the pic of it installed in the car is a little misleading due to the angle of the shot and the lens I had on the camera. In reality...everything will workout. As for the turbo...Im not going to spill the beans until the car is finished....give me a week or so. I promise you this...no one has ever seen this turbo before. =)

Dont forget to cut the flange between each runner to allow it to expand.

WG outlet is placed pretty much in the same place as mine on the full-race, dump will go right between the exhaust housing and the shock tower.

Mike, do you see any issues with the WG not being placed at an angle?

Shouldnt be a problem, just have to use a small bend on the dump to get the right angle to put it in the right spot. Only thing is it might be tuff getting the bolts/nuts on for the dump flange. I think that is why full-race put my wg at an angle so I could get to the bolts on the dump flange.

I want to finish the A4's engine first. Then , maybe over next winter...the TT will undergo major open heart sergery. Or maybe even a full heart transplant. =)

How are you going to tune for this SPECIAL TURBO? Also, are you saying the project will be all done by next week?

LOL...the turbo issnt speacial...just new to the market. Im not trying to hype it up...because its nothing crazy. The tune will be completely custom. And yes, Im hoping the whole project will be finished in a week....two at the most. We have been working on the car for 1 1/2 weeks so far.

I guess what I was asking is will it be custom CHIP tune or a standalone?

Who will be doing the tuning?

i have one of these too. it will be quite some time before anybody sees mine. i am a slow worker.

is equal length the best way to go. i know it might be only slight but would rotational firing be better? better combustion?

anywho...nice stuff.

Rotational firing would only help on a twin scroll turbo which would have a split flange on the manifold. Problem with that is actually getting the correct cylinders (2,3 and 1,4) into the same side of the flange while still using equal length runners, if the runners are not equal it throws off the exhaust pulse.

onemoremile

Twin scroll would really help the little 1.8t. Mitsubishi and Subaru have been running them for years with great success.

I'd love nothing more than an Outback XT 2.5 with a twin scroll gt30. [;)]

"step it up"?? You're buggin!! Your car is already a 2.0......mine is a measily 1.8

If you keep your car clean (which it appears that you do...everytime I see it its clean as shit) you have no worries!

This is the manifold design I had planned for the Audi.

if the runners are not equal it throws off the exhaust pulse.
You think Javad could make more if he made an equal length manifold?[:p]

To the original poster, why not a TiAL wastegate? Also post up some other images of the engine bay and this thing needs to stay away from OEM management.

I have had good luck with turbonetics gates. Not to say that Tial is not good (I havent heard ANY bad things about them)....but I stick with what works for me.

Im going to post some more pics once the fresh turbo is in. Right now we're working with a mock-up unit for fitment purposes. Why do you say to stay away from OEM management? I think its more of a challange to tune it on bosch stuff. Plus, I enjoy keeping my check engine light, etc.

only "new" turbo lines I can think of for this would be a turbonetics GT-K as previously mentioned or some sort of borg warner s250 or 350 hybrid. My money is on s256. Seems like something from bullseye is what you'd get your hands on.

bitchin work car, was considering an srt8 but I'm reconsidering

SRT8 is really nice....I was considering it as well. Problem is the nose is so damn low! My buddy has one and he scraped the front end of it everywhere! The last thing I want is a truck that I have to drive like my Audi's! (carefully)

The turbo I had before the GT35r was a Hybrid Borg Warner turbo like you are talking about which used the Schwitzer housings with the twin scroll exhaust housing, it was put together by Airwerks for ITS back when I was sponsored by ITS back in 2003. So you can mark it off your list.

This is the S250 version which looks exactly like what I had which has the 8 bolt compressor housing.
