View Full Version : NEED HELP!!! Car died in Bank Parking Lot!!!

So I start the car after 3 days of snowing, starts fine, runs fine. Drive to the bank, come back, start the car...back up and it just dies. Cranks but does not start. I know it's not the fuel pump (gauge shows 30psi). I had the ICM go before but that just made the car misfire in one cylinder. Could alos be the cam position sensor....any help would be appreciated. My Vag Com is at my parents house (50 miles away) so I can't pull codes.

no blinking CEL? check the hoses?

hoses seem ok....like I said it ran fine to the bank. Shows no cel because the car isnt running.

I really ope it's not the timing belt. It's only got like 40k miles on it.

if it were the timing belt, wouldn't it have made a funny noise when it died?

Do you have a towing service?

the stereo was playing so I didnt hear anything...it ran smooth though.

What I did notice the last few weeks was that when you would rev the car there was noice coming form the front of the motor...only if i reved quickly to like 2-3k but it was too cold for me to go and dig into it.

bummer, w/o vag, it's hard to say. maybe someone else knows...

so I went back to look under the timing belt cover....and thought I'd try to start it again. Well it hesitated but started and was misfiering like crazy and wanted to stall the whole time. The TB theory is out, so is the cam pos sensor. All I can think of is the ICM.

I have a Carbonio V1 intake and the ICM is routed underneath it to conceal the wires. Since the car is slammed, the wheel liners have holes rubben in them and I'm guessing the icm got wet and is either shorting out or just fried. I'm going to have a new one overnighted and see in the morning if I need it.

try testing with your coilpacks to see if it's the ICM.

Run the car, unplug coilpacks. If it stutters, that cyl is firing. Plug back in and find the one that's not firing. Swap that coilpack with another and see if it's the same cyl that's not firing. If so, it's the ICM.

fuse blew?

fuse blew?

I fuze would not have fixed itself. I new ICM is being overnighted....maybe the old one is just wet and will work once dried up...maybe not.
