So tonight after the super bowl my buddy went to leave the party and didn't see my car parked behind him and bang, he hit my car destroying the grill and denting up the hood a good bit in the process. So instead of making him pay for a factory hood and paint, I was going to eventially buy a cf hood and figured he can just buy me one instead now along with an rs4 grill. Has anybody used the seibon hood? And how do they compare to the VIS hood? Last question, are their any other brands for around the same money I should be looking at? Thanks for the help in advance, I need to get this taken car of now I can't stand to see the front of my car all jacked up

You can usually get the VIS for a little cheaper, but those are the two best/cheapest. Don't forget you have to have hoodpins for a CF hood. Look at the ones on hoodpins.com. There expensive but apparently the best. BTW, a shipped CF hood will be around $600. I bought an OEM hood from Audi for $280, granted it wasn't painted.

I bought one off of ebay for my car. Fit perfect, and i actually complained about something and they gave me 200 back. Hood ended up costing me $300 shipped. Packaging was superb, hood latches, no pins needed. PM me and ill give u details

are the seibon and the vis about the same in quality and fit?http://www.carbon-fiber-hoods.com/enter.html?lang=en-us&target=d1.html
it's $600 shipped on that site, also on the hood pins I was searching for hood info on here last night and somebody said something about stealth hood pins, does anybody know anything about those? Will both of these hoods fit factory grills?

i would check out the fiber images, I am really happy with mine, i would recommend getting hood pins, i feel alot better about my car with the pins on. Before i had pins anything above 70mph was sketchy, and the hood would shake quite a bit, with the pins it is perfect.

Seibon fades.

Go Fiber Images

With any CF hood it is wise to have it clear coated after getting it.

But I have personally seen some pretty rough Seibon hoods. With something like this, I would just pay the extra money to have quality.

well the problem is that not all CF companies use a clear that has a UV protection in it.

arent cf hoods usually more expensive then oem hoods. i mean if your friend doesnt mind paying more then go for the cf

Yes, but when looking at the cost of a stock hood you have to add on the cost of having it painted. At that point the price of a CF hood can be less then a stock hood that needs paint.

I just called audi and they say $420 for the hood and I called the bodyshop my shop uses and they say about $500 for the paint, so it's $900 for the factory hood and $600-700 for a cf hood.

I called dtmautohaus and they sell the vis hoods, they sell bosers as well but aside from the hood the only thing that is not stock on the front of the car is clear corners so I think the boser will look funny on the front of my car

its pretty good. the only issue i had with it was that it was painted too soon and didnt cure enough so i have a couple small bubbles on the passenger side. mine was a preproduction hood tho so the quality is probably better now

Another vote for Fiber Images. I think theirs comes clear coated. You tell them if you are going to paint it or not. If not, they clear it for your.

so, what if i want to paint part of the hood? just get it clear coated when i do that i guess. is the only difference for fiber images is that it comes cleared, or is the quality that much better?

I think the quality is better, anybody know where to purchase a fiber images hood for a decent price?
