the strange noise started about a week ago.. It comes and goes and shows no patters, my car is a DBW and everytime im around someone that could rev up the car while im under the hood the car never makes it.. It sounds like a tapping, or a clicking its moderalty loud, you can start hearing it at about 2k rpm's if your driving its louder under load but at idle you cant really hear anything.. like I said it comes and goes very odd and makes the car sound like a peace.. any ideas

It might be a sticky lifter. Mine started like that and slowly became more constant. Then it would be more pronounced at startup and get faint when warmed up. Then it was just ticking away all the time. A Seafoam enema did the trick. I've been tick free for more than 20k miles.

I made a big Y out of a nylon T fitting and some tubing. Clear tubing should be used for all 3 sections. One end goes in the Seafoam can and the other two attach to the nipples on the intake manifold. Rev, sip, rev, sip, rev, sip...

the seafoam treatment will help the lifters?

one more question, if it was my tubo making the noise it would be all the time right? and im sure i would feel a loss of power?

Turbo failure is usually pretty noticeable. You should hear something.

The seafoam treatment in the vac lines should treat combustion chamber deposits. Seafoam in the oil should help the sticky lifters. I forgot that I did some in the gas, some in the oil, and some in the vac lines.

well the reason why i asked the question about the turbo was because the noise seems to come and go, and I would just think if it was the turbo it would all the time and it wouldnt spool "normal" the turbo acts just like it did before the noise so i would asume its more of a lifter valve problem..
so I should seafoam the vac lines and the oil?
this is a dumb quesiton but ill ask it anyway, i just changed my oil, if i do a seafoam in the oil should I also change the filter again?

I would wait until closer to oil change time to add the Seafoam. Run it for maybe 100-150 miles before changing the oil and filter.

You could have a tech use a mechanic's stethoscope to try to locate the source of the ticking. I touched a long screwdriver to the head and put my ear on the other end. It was obvious where my bad lifter was.

yea but its not that loud at idel and its dosent always make the noise, my injectors are really all i hear at idel seems to really only be presant when you start reving it up and im DBW and it never makes the noise when i have a friend around

could it be the cam chain tensioner?

In general I don't try to fix noise sounds in winter. My car makes weird squeaks and groans when it's freezing out. They go away in spring.

It could also be the ignition control module on the airbox. That little sucker likes to tick away.
