Ok, so my gauge only reads that I have 12psi... I JUST put this in this evening, like 10 minutes ago...

Is this a prob (anyone know what it could be)? or is it my gauge? It read a perfect 7 - 8 psi on stock everytime.

BTW I have stock exhaust right now.. dunno if that would hinder it.

On a happy note, my check engine light went off lol, and it feels pretty angry [up].

Either a leak or its just cold out.

leak or too cold out take your pic. whats the ambient temps out there right now?
i think a k03 chip is supposed to be at 17psi...in the summer though. i think thats what mine was at least.

leak, I have same issue and I am about to replace all my vac lines

Its cold as FvCK... like 25 degrees or so... where could a boost leak exist? Because it read fine stock boost... But it feels strong still... I'm thinkin it's just cold tho.. My vac lines seemed fine.

EDIT: I lied, it's 16 degrees

Most likely caused by your 25 deg temps, when temps are that low the air will be much denser which means the turbo moves the same amount of air at a lower boost level. Even when temps are around 50 degs there will be a 3-4psi drop vs temps above 60.

Cold weather... hope you like the chip though! Its a strong file.

Good to hear you finally got it too

my giac chip still reads 17psi right now, and its seen as low as 10*F lately... when its that cold it maxes right at 15psi...

me too its been under 30 degrees and i max out at 15psi and rarley get 16 or 17.

I may have a leak then as well.

My GIAC peaks at about 10-12, and holds about 7 during normal acceleration. But it is -13F with a -25+ wind chill..

would it maybe be caused by a backwards installed 710N? I still cant remember if I put it in right.

oh and thanks schnell i ended up gettin it on Friday [up]

i doubt the cold weather is whats causing it, even when its -12 degrees, i still boost 22 - 23 psi

my friends 91 oct apr chip boosts 20-21 in any weather.

it can't be the cold. i just drove home and its 3 degrees outside and I spiked at 17-18 and leveled out at 15 on APR93

if you didnt put the 710n the right way .. you would notice it couse there would be a little smoke , more then usuall when u start the car also if you have boost gauge/w Vac , you would see the vacume would read less then 15.. when u give it a little gas does your car almost shut off. if so then u didnt put the 710n D.V the right way

My DV might be done for.

I really don't want to go take a look at it though.

Are you guys hitting 17-18 at WOT?

Well you also run a MBC and a Diode setup to run that much boost in the first place. It is easy phyisics, colder air = less pressure.

When using just the N75 valve the ecu does not tell the turbo to spool up more to make up for the pressure drop caused by denser air.

i run the pc16 file which gives me 21-22psi in the summer. in the winter...right now being 6 degrees out well -19 but when i drove it...i saw a max of 15psi. its the weather....as mike said...colder weather means denser air vs. the hot thin air of the summer...where you will push more psi.

i would get a new dv, and run some seafoam through your vac lines, that is like the easiest way to try and find a boost leak, there is tons of other ways but i would try that first, good luck to ya....also could be spark plugs, thats what i had a problem with for awhile, try those, easy way out first is always great

so heres the question i've been wondering... will i get the same power from 18-20 psi in the summer vs. 14-15 psi in the winter? (ko4 pc-16)

Yes as long as AFR stays where it should be. Easy way to see it is to log the maf readings which should be the same or higher in the colder temps, plus you end up with even lower IAT's which will allow for more adv timing which can be seen by logging the adv timing readings which is block 002 or 003(sorry haven't used the vag in a long time).

^^^ so mike if i get a frontmount intercooler and ther preasure drops .. would i still have the same Hp or better or.. worst? abt says 7-9 hp gain on stock k03!!?!?

I run about 18 psi the 5-30 degree weather we've had here lately with my X chip, I had the same 12 psi issues when I got my chip, it wound up being a cracked l hose going from the intake manifold to the suction jet pump that is right at the back of the engine, here is a pic of the pipe

You will get a gain with the correct size fmic, this is because you still get the same amount of air(CFM) at a lower IAT. I used a Evolution Motorsport fmic with a standard GIAC chip with my K03 and I saw a slight gain because the ecu pulled less timing giving a small jump in adv timing.

It's not my DV, I checked it... I was going to get a new gauge anyways, so I'll do that, and wait for it to warm up...

Even at 12 psi it pulls HARD..compared to stock anyway... very pleased..
