I have a 01 A4 1.8Tf 5sp and want to chip my car. I have been debating about this ever since I got my car. Everyone has been telling me to do it and after reading the stock car thread... it makes me want to chip it even more. Can someone recommend me a chip or who should i get it done by? I know there is GIAC, APR, and some individual people out there who makes their own program... What CHIP is the best bang for its buck?

Thanks in Advance...

Most people will say to go to the one closest to you. Personally, id go with Dahlback if they have it in your area. If not, go with which ever is closest.

I went to DSR(in san jose) for my chip. I have a GIAC and love it. I never drove a car with an APR so I cant compare. Do a search and you should get your answers. From what I know you won't be disappointed with either. Def a big improvement from stock. Then after a few months your car will feel slow again. haha.

Here's the link for DSR: http://www.dynospotracing.com/

Might get more responses in the NorCal Regional Forum. But...

Streetwerke in Palo Alto for APR
DSR in San Jose for GIAC

Go with whichever is closer/easier for you, or call both and see which one you get a better vibe from. Can't go wrong either way.

Are these chips better than the ones that are programmed by individuals. They take your ecu and reprogram it or something. Is that better than GIAC/APR?? How many horses did you guys gain from GIAC and APR??

Damn... I feel bad for all you guys that don't live close to a good shop. I live like 10 minutes from Matrix Integrated in Portland, OR. They're the absolute best shop I've ever been to by far, I'd never trust my car to anyone else. Ever.

You won't get a chip installed, you can get your ecu reflashed, its better. DSR is down the street from my house but i still went APR cause of local az'ers recomendations.

Also remember to make your choice on if you are going to do any type of turbo upgrades later. Seeing that you have a 2001, you might want to consider going GIAC for the Xchip which tends to have the most power for the 2001 with the K03.

If I wanted to get my ecu reflashed, who would you recommend?

go to DSR man, they do real good work. and right next door there are some body shops that u can get the hook up from too. if your on essj then your near me. DSR is super close. i think sometimes they do dyno specials u can jump on one of those right after u get chipped.

From what I have heard DSR is the way to go. I am going there with my co-worker mid this month to get my 1.8T and his S4 done. If you want to go with us we can get a discount.
