my buddy had that in his escalade, headliner, pillers, seat inserts, and subwoofer enclosure cover. id say go for it, its different, but it might make it tough to sale your car later on down the road.

plenty of people have done this on "gansta rides/hooptys - know impalas, montes, etc" escalades, high end cars....etc....i always see at least 1 at a car show. some louis vuitton, gucci, etc. but i see it all the time.

That VW . . . wow. thats a,little ghetto shot. LoL.

On topic though, if you like it them do it. A lot of people have been doin suede lately so one may say that suede is sooo played out too. Its all personal opinion. Just when you do pick a pattern and do decide to turn your car into a purse (j/k) pick a pattern that will go with the color of your car. Not one that clashes like crazy

I don't think suede is played out because it comes oem on Porsches, MB, higher end audis and many other cars.

Last time I checked LV and Burburry were never in a oe car.

I never said i think it was played out, i like it, i said that since so many people are doing it one may say it is. and Actually for a little while, dont quote me on this, but i think lexus offered a coach edition of the RX330 or RX300

This interior pattern is precisely why I haven't pulled the trigger on a new GTI... I think it is outright "fugly"! IMHO, doing an interior with such a hideous pattern is the equivalent of putting neon lights on a Honda Civic.

IMO stay away from a pattern if your gonna DIY. it will be a nightmare to lineup and make parallel with the lines in your car and match up with the pillers. stick to a random pattern if you go this route... and it will make your car hard to sell. ultra suede on the other hand may make your car sell quicker.

Honestly, go with COACH or GUCCI, and get it in black or dark grey, that always looks good because the pattern of the logos match the overall color, like it would look just like a black headliner and pillers until the sun hits it perfectl or you take a close look, does that make sense? sort of like this backpack:

honestly... its my last semester here at WSU, and it seems like everyone drives a B5 these days.... so because the fact that you can pick one up for a couple grand and every teenager these days has one... i wouldnt say its a car youd want to drive for status.. but thats just me.

A4_2.8tuner
01-19-2007, 09:03 AM
Maybe an A4 isn't for you if you bought it for the status.

exactly my thoughts.

i have not FULLY decided whether i want to do it yet or not, but i figure its something different (good or bad). i like the look of the microsuede, and if i decide not to do the burberry, then thats probably what i'll go with, but its a look i like.

i personally dont like to be too trendy...i like doing this a little different. for example, my wheels were silver, i decided to paint them the same color as my car (europa blue), many people thought it wouldnt look good...but yet ever since i've done it i've gotten nothing but compliments on them...and then take a look at the new Eurotuner...the blue jetta has paint matched centers haha

i can see where you may be coming from with the "becoming a civic" stuff...i have been thinking the exact same thing lately, which is why i'm trying to do stuff tastefully, while using a bit of my style and what i like...

I just got an awesome idea for a parents anniversary present. I'm going to get my parents' beltline trim upholstered in our family tartan. A nice red/black tartan on a black interior should look amazing haha.

I saw the same thing with the arm rest so I didnt take it off. I cut the fabric a little bigger glued it on and then used a putty knife to tuck the edges in. It was actually pretty easy this way.

Goooood luck reselling....

Resale issues seem to be what hold most people back from doing the intensely innovative mods they want to do, but when resale isn't a factor this is when you really get a chance to do whatever you've only dreamed of to your car. I don't really care that's it's played, just seems a little too flashy, too baller status for me. Although non the less, when done right along with other tasteful mods it can drastically baller your car from 0-60 with a Gucci headliner. I'd personally go with a black suede or maybe if it must be a print something not so branded as much as just a style such as Argyle, although subtlety is key. As mentioned before, most or almost all of these prints should I say aren't offered in production cars, and I know that's exactly the reason why you may be doing this, but I've always had a taste for the upscaling-your-car mods. For instance, on the SL55 and 65's they actually incorporate suede into the dashboard and other parts of the car, whereas I've never seen a car with Louis, Gucci, Prada, or what have you into actual production cars. So again, this may be the exact reason why most people incorporate these styles into their cars, but personally it's not the flashy baller status fabric on my headliner that really does it for me so much as it is the small lesser noticed qualities/materials used and stitching.

I was actually thinking of redoing my headliner, door cards, and armrest with the black gucci fabric. I think it is discrete and very nice looking in moderation.
