View Full Version : Dyno run at GT Pro in Fullerton today

In order to run the car in NASA TT (time trial) next year, they require three dyno pulls. All must be on a Dynojet or other approved Dyno. So, took it into the guys at GT Pro today. Brian and Denis are great guys and they took care of me. Haven't been to their shop before but it's really clean. They work on a lot of Mitsubishi 3000GT's and other imports. If you need dyno work done, I'd highly recommend them.

This was the first time I've ever had any car dyno'd. It's a 1997 1.8T that I bought new. It's been chipped, rechipped, K04'd, then PC-16'd and now it's running a GT28RS with some APR bits and tuning by Bitterchild and Moss. Runs were done with a 100 octane/91 octane mix to about 95 octane. Pretty much the same as what I would run on track days. Pretty cool here today in Socal, about 66 degrees when we did our runs.

What's on the car:
APR exhaust manifold
APR inlet to MAF
GT28RS in R housings. .64 hotside A/R
98 VR6 MAF housing with original 99 A4 MAF element.
Using stock air box
415cc EV6 injectors
4 bar oem FPR
High flow cat (ARR)
Updated Racetec FMIC
PES/GIAC T28 software
Borla exhaust

With a few more mods I feel the car would easily pull another 20-30 HP. Per Moss and Tony it still needs a downpipe and a larger exhaust and a bit more tuning work.

For TT, I'll have to see if it makes sense as more HP will just bump the car into higher classes. It was fast enough last year to win the TTD class. Now, with the change in rules it will go into C or maybe even B. Not likely to be competitive there but all the classes will be shaken up by the new rules.

You seem to be running a little lean there!

It looks like you hit full boost before 4k, but you stay in the 13s (A/f). Usually when boost hits the a/f is supposed to get a little richer for safety reasons.

The A/F never goes below 12....

How much boost are you running?

it does look a little too lean around 3500 to 4500. might be a good idea to go a little richer there since im sure you'll be in that rev range alot when racing
