I can't believe it... Some of you might remember but i broke my original gas pedal while in LA.

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=103769&highlight=gas+pedal

So when i got back, much getto riging went on before it was toast. I put on a new one off of a 1997 A4 1.8T. Worked well until this morning. Was leaving my house on my way to Mimi's Cafe for some breakfast when i floored it and *Crack*

God dammit!

I'm sorry, this sucks... but this is hilarious! You should be in an Audi commerical or something. Anyone remember the VW lead foot commercials?

Dealer quoted me $68 for a new pedal assembly. Not too bad i think.

I don't think i'm hitting it too hard, although that's what happened the first time, but i am pushing through the pedal which is the problem... I want to floor it... literally. lol

So this will be my third gas pedal thus far.

ActiveMonkey

i would love it if someone would make me one out of steel. I don't care if it's 10lbs... i just don't want it to break.

psipleasure
01-13-2007, 12:53 PM
haha i think ive almost done that a couple times, you just want the car to go faster, so you slam the gas down more than it could go down, haha i do it in frustratoin though :)

how big of a foot do you have, i have slammed mine so hard like a million times and its never broken, was your car out side all night in the freezing temps?

I broke mine a few months ago.

They replaced it with a design that is 10000x more sturdy...

New one is the one without the pink stuff on it :P

I don't think this one is going to break any time soon.

the first one i broke was the "newer" Design. Sadly the dealer didn't get in it today like they said they would. But when i do get it i'm going to fill those triangular gaps with some sort of hard plastic or something. Goal is a solid piece.

Side 11 shoe. I was wearing my Adio's

The car was out side all night and this was the first time it had been driven since mid-day yesterday.

ActiveMonkey

i dunno if i'm too strong, i mean i have a strong lower body(soccer) but honestly... Does anyone know of a machine shop or something that might make one?

Wouldnt it be easier to just not mash the gas pedal. It really doesnt do much slamming it.

geez, take it easy bro. Thats just insane that you broke two already, lol.

ActiveMonkey
01-13-2007, 07:49 PM

I have been in the Audi/Vw seen for a long time (1994) and I have never heard of or seen anything like this. I cant stop laughing. I know, I'm sorry but this is pretty good in terms of awkward shit.
Hope you get it taken care of for good this time.

I would suggest buying a case of them with your luck.. LOL

wow, i remember your other post the first time you broke it. I wrote it off as a fluke but damn! now you broke another. worse yet, another dude has broken one too. I have never seen anything like this ever. Lead Foot indeed.

pac1085
01-14-2007, 07:09 AM
Not so much lead foot. It's actually happened to quite a few people with Audi's, not just A4's either. If you do a search on AW you'll see that it has happened alot!

Its just poor design, the back of the pedal hits the floor in a way that it acts as a pivot point and causes it to stress/crack...

It should really be made out of metal IMO, the other pedals are...

Wow dude. Lead foot in Iron casing, how did you do that?

TWICE no less.

bitterchild
01-14-2007, 09:53 AM
obviously the problem is that your car is underpowered, if you had say 400bhp I don't think you'd be slamming the gas pedal down as violently

ceas
01-14-2007, 10:00 AM
lol.. you must be one of those power lifters that squats/leg presses like 800+lbs. "wheres the power at?!!.... *pedal to the floor*... oh shit I broke this one too!"

ActiveMonkey
01-14-2007, 02:10 PM
i used to leg press 850lbs... then i strained my ACL playing soccer. Now when i try and go more than 600lbs with out a brace it kinda hurts.

I want to go KO4 PC-16 but i don't think that will be as fast as i want. My goal is just a mid 13 second 1/4 mile time. That's not asking too much, is it? I just want to be even with a stock evo. Nothing crazy or fancy... GT2X?

Thats nuts mang!

Heavy on the gas are ya!

Wonder if there's a big dent in the floor under the pedal.

Crappy luck none the less.

Finally got my Gas Pedal. Put it on in the dealer parking lot. Head of service came over and said,

Service: "You know you're not supposed to work on your cars here, right?"

Me: "Yea, and you know i was promised this would be here on saturday, right?" as i tuck my head backunder the dash.

Service: "Just try and be quick."

I take my time and install it, start the car, rev it for about 2 minutes then pull out to the street, look both ways, floor it making read tires swing way out as I turn right. I Hate concord Audi's service Dept. Their service "managers" are rude and treat you like you don't know anything.

NEVER go and get serviced at Concord Audi unless you absolutely have to.

You can get one made out of metal (AL or ST), but you are going to pay quite a bit to get the machining done depending on the design of it.

If you break the third one, hit me up and maybe I can make you one. It will have to be somewhat simple because I can't tie up a CNC at work for too long doing an intricate one.
