I had misfires in cylinder 3 and 4, so i replaced the coilpacks. Then I found someone to vag it and cylinder 1 shows misfiring. Now I changed the coilpack for that cylinder but the car is still stuttering. Is it the spark plugs? I dont have a vag but contacted Diablo Imports in Pleasant Hill and apparently the owner had sold it. Now the new owner wants to charge me $90 just to vag the car. You guys know of any places that can help me clear some codes? Somewhere around the East Bay? Thank you!

btw, its a 2001 S4 stage 3

WTF... the new owner is back charging you? Didnt he buy it as is? If you agreed to this before the sale then I would honor your agreement. If not, tell the new owner it is what it is. Its his problem now.

SydeshowMo,

The owner is not back charging me. Actually I dont really understand what you mean. The old owner did the vag for free since I had him replace an engine and do a stage 3 install. The new owner charges $90-95 just to hook up the vag and tell me what codes are found. I need a place that will vag my car for much less so I can figure out exactly what is wrong with it.

I'll call Darren at Streetwerke and question him about the coil amplifier. Could it be something as simple as spark plugs? Thanks for the input guys....

My badd. You are the owner of the A4 correct? I think I misunderstood that there was a new owner to your car.

Darren at Streetwerke is so cool he will VAG you for free as all VAG's are free. Problem is, you will have to drive out to Palo Alto while misfiring.

You can go to a closer shop in San Pablo. They are called Tomas Sport Tuning and they are wonders w/ VW - Audi. Im sure they will VAG for free as well.

I would do it but the cable I use, is in Antioch right now w/ AZ member R0N.

Whatever you do, stay away from Griffin in Berkeley. They use to do good work in the past and were very reputible but from here on out, I will never take my car back there. Some will beg to differ on this one but I share the same experience as others. Good folks, but cannot diagnose a dead battery if it slapped em' in the face.

Thanks for the info guys. I called Autozone and they will lend me the vag with a deposit. I just bought some Ngk's that were recommended and will install those since they suppose to be better. Or should I get better plugs for a B5 S4 Stage 3? If the problem still exist then i'll change out the coil amplifier.

2001 doesn't have an ICM........its built into the coilpack so porobably not your issue
