Just wondering what all is involved to go S4 calipers on a B5 A4?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know about the A8 conversion with the TT carriers.

youll need alot more than the calipers to do this... not worth it unless you have a junk s4 to pull parts off...

parts details??

I've got a set of calipers and rotors if you want to try it. They've been sitting on a shelf in the garage for 3 years.

I know the fronts are a hassle but I thought the rears should bolt right up?

rears do bolt right up, im running them.

I think you need the whole hub carrier assembely to mount the calipers IIRC, then the bearings and driveshafts need sorting, a lot of hassle unless you happen to have a spare S4 kicking around

I wouldn't suggest doing to front. It will be cheaper to just piece together a porsche brake kit. The rears on the other side I plan on doing and there is a really good write up on audiworld about it.

2nd the rears. I have them on both my '00 and her '01 The rears are a very easy upgrade. The fronts however are not easy or even worth it.

You need the whole hub but you can swap your shocks and spring over no problem but you will have to keep your drive shafts has the s4 drive shafts will not bolt up. I'm in the process of swapping the RS4 brakes over and I already ran in to one lot of problems with the drive shafts and brake lines due to the fact the 1.8T brake lines are shorter.

Are the S4 rears that much better/bigger? Are they vented? 2 piston or single?

Good to know about the rears as I have the RS4 rears too.

larger diameter. not by much, i don't remember the exact sizes.

single piston

you can use S8 carriers with the S4 calipers and S8 rotors for even bigger brakes if you want.
