Detailing problems.....HELP!!

Hey guys,


I ran into a problem, I overclayed a part of my hood and hazed up the finish, is there any way to polish this out.

Also, in regards to the portercable, what is the most effective way of removing the scratches, should i go straight SWIRL and HAZE remover, or do the mix of SHR and REVIVE POLISH?

Also, how do I clean the portercable pads after im done?

i am not sure how you overclayed your hood. Unless you never folded your clay to expose new/fresh clay. But if you scrathed the hood you need need to polish off the edges of the scratches you put in so they are less visable, that can be accomplished with the Adams Swirl and Haze remover and a green pad. Even if you just created a haze (not sure how) use the same product. If the green pad is not cutting thru the haze/scrathes you can use the orange side, but the orange is more aggressive. Work it in smoothly and evenly. After that you can move on to the Revive to give it more depth with a white pad. Then use the butter wax with a black pad.

2 things that might have happened, you didn't use enough clay lube, sometimes the more the better in this case.

Or what EBG said you didn't fold the clay bar enough.

As for the correction what EBG said as well, green pad with swirl and haze and follow with revive polish, you should be able to get it out.

i really thought i was being generouse with the spray, i guess not, i think where i failed was in turning the clay enough.

as i look throught the Do it youself videos, i see that the clay shown on the video is yellow, the one i have is gray, does that matter?

also you don't need too much pressure and 1 to 2 passes should be enough, do a section at a time and remember to wipe off the excess detail spray. I know the video says don't worry but I like to wipe it off anyway.

I did that, but kept hearing debris being pulled up, as long as i heard that sound i kept going over the same spot. Thats probably what did me in.

So you are saying, even if i still hear dirt being pulled, just go over it twice?

Try this, spray the section you are working with down, then go over it with 1 or 2 passes, then wipe the excess detail spray. Check the smoothness of the paint, if that didn't work or pull it all off try it again. It typically should take you less than 30 minutes to do a typical Audi.
