I have been wanting new seats now for a while because my stock A4 seats that came with my 98.5 A4 look like crap. There are water stains all over them, and they just always look dirty. Well today I went to an Audi and VW junkyard by my house and found a set of new style A4 or S4 seats, the motorized kind. My current seats are now heated, and I was wondering if I could wire these new seats up with my existing setup. I am also wondering about the track size, is it the same width as my existing one, and can I use my existing track? I was told the S4 seats were only made in leather and alcantara, these are cloth, so they must be the new style A4 seats (99.5+). If someone has experience with this, could you please help me out! Thanks I appreciate it very much!

The A4 seats have a slide mount at each rear corner and a rail running down the middle of the seat that acts as the front mount.

Are you talking B5 or B6 seats as the B6 seat will not fit without welding, if they are just heated B5 seats then they will go straight in but you’re need to get the loom to make them work or a lot of fabricating.

no b5 seats. the ones I have now adjust manually and are heated, these new ones are automatic and heated.

I found a decent answer after searching on Audiworld.com... someone said they cut out a center metal bracket... bolted the seats down.. and had to weld a few bolts. Can anyone confirm this?

Thats what I heard for full auto seats.

another question, are the late model powered A4 seats the same as the S4 powered seat (trace, sliders, and all?) of course other than the material.

I would have thought so.

yes, 2.8 power/S4 seats are the same. In fact, the 2.8 sport seats are nearly identical to the S4 seats... only difference is a slightly different pattern. I actually like the 2.8 sports better than the S4s.

i haven't actually sat in an S4 seat yet but i'd think they're a lot nicer. the 2.8 seats are terrible at supporting side to side movement of your ass. i think the previous owner of my car was a little heavy because the seat's cushioning seems a lot stiffer than the passenger seat. i'm sure that's natural, but still... if i don't get my seat in JUST the right spot, it can be kinda uncomfortable.
