And how long you had it?

Its just I have been wondering what I will ever replace it with or if I will just buy a daily car?

Is it cool enough to keep for a weekend car?

---------------------------------------------------

I have had mine 3 years in Feb.

had my first one for a year, this one for a year and i plan on driving it for ever.

im sure i will get a newer VAG car, but i'd never stop driving, or modding the B5.

I had my first B5 A4 for a year and then sold it. I bought my current B5 A4 shortly after and I've had it for just over a year.

I've been tossing the idea around in buying an A3 and selling my A4. Thing is, '98.5s with 120K miles and a Tip tranny aren't too popular. I've realized that I probably won't get out of my car what I want so I'll probably keep it until the doors fall off.

Doesn't mean I still can't have a weekend car...Can you say, "911?"[:D]

Ive had mine since late July, if I land a better job, Im selling it and getting a B5 S4 or RX-7, hard to decide between the two. Ive grown to love the handling on the Audi.

I'm torn...part of me wants to keep it UNTIL my extended warranty runs out and then ditch it for a lower mile guy. But that may change when I get out of college and actually have money to afford the repairs..then I may re fall in love with it when I put money into it again.

I plan on keeping my a4 until the later years of my life. I'll eventually have to buy a daily driver but the potential that our (1.8t) cars have is huge, plus they look cool [:D].

I've been through thick and thin with my a4 over the past 5 YEARs, getting lucky and unlucky of course.

Like when my timing belt broke (had no idea about this at the time), got the stealership to fix it ($2800) and they installed a faulty piston that when put back together shot through the head (i think). They replaced the whole head of the engine for free, even though it took them a month an a half.

I say keep it, do your research, learn how to fix and maintain it the best you can and buy a daily whenever you see fit.[:D]

since i get made fun of for having mudflaps, i'm keeping this car until i can buy the RS-4 in a few years time; then i'll say that I got the rs-4 only because i wasn't liking the mudflaps on my b5 a4...

so pretty much keeping it for the next few years until the RS4 is parked in my garage

i'm keeping it forever.......

just buying a B6 S4....you know something reliable [;)]

but seriously....i'm not selling...too much blood, sweat, tears...and above all $$$$$$$$$$$$ went into this A4. means more to me than anyone else, i built it, and i'm keeping it.....and i'm just getting started [;)] chalk me up $2500 in repairs....now i've pretty much replaced everything but the internals of the motor. that money was for my GTRS kit....but the repairs....she stole it from me.

but what i have learned as i need another daily driver and it is so dubbed the B6 S4.

i'll keep it forever unless something happens that i can't control, i.e. getting hit or a tree falling on it or something.

i have a huge sentimental attachment to my B5 and i still think these cars have great potential...i'll just keep enjoying my wrench sessions and getting to be a faster driver [wrench]

Had mine for 2 years now and I'll keep it forever most likely. I'm sure I'll go through a motor and a trans along the way...probably several TB jobs and a yet anoterh control arm job as well.

audisnawb, how you do find your A4 when compared to your E36 in terms of maintenance? My close friend is seriously considering getting a 97 M3 and selling his 1.8T Avant.

Euro... I owned the M3 for about 1 year and I never did a single thing to it... just oil changes. the car is awesome. Its a give and take thing, people say they suck and some say they dont- I guess, like any car, people have good luck and some have bad luck! But, Id buy another in a hearbeat!!! Best car Ive ever owned, hands down... I am going to change that in my profile though I havent owned the car for some time now! haha

I've had my A4 for 4 years. Been thinking of replacing it for quite some time, but it still works and I love the B5 so I don't have any real reason to get rid of it. I'll be getting a B7 S4, RS4 or M3 next year however and keep the B5 as an extra car.

Until 200k miles. I told my wife that when I bought it and have used that 200k figure to help argue parts upgrades and an engine build. I've shot my mouth off and am now fully obligated.
