So im planning on getting an exhaust as a Christmas gift to myself. hehe. I have a 2001 1.8t and I've been debating on going with either APR or Miltek. I know the Miltek exhaust system sounds pretty nice. But the APR system is on sale. Any suggestions or links to sound clips for the APR?

Depends on what you want, I have the APR and it sounds very nice, and had a good low tone, so it's not to loud, but it's there when you get on it. I've heard nothing but good things about Miltek, so I can't compare the two, but I do like my APR ....[:D]

I met up with JohnnyBravoA4 the other day...he's got the Miltek, I've got the APR. I was pretty amazed at how quiet his is, it's noticeable at idle. My APR tends to drone a little bit at highway speeds, and he claims that his Miltek doesn't. Food for thought.

I think my milltek is too quiet. But you can get the non-resonated version. I've been thinking about taking out the resonator to see how it would sould like.

I have the Milltek non-resonated with Fast Intentions HFC,,,and its considerably louder than with the resonator in. I love the throaty sound now...but will be honest the droning in the cabin gets a bit annoying sometimes. I kept the resonator just in case I want to switch back.

But there is nothing like ripping through a tunnel or overpass with the windows down in the summer...

EuroA4, Where did you get the resonator removed at? And how much was it to put a straight pipe in to replace it, if you dont mind telling?

yea what he said..lol Mine is rather quiet, but my last car had a custom magnaflow set up that my friend and I made, cutom test pipe/ down pipe, custom cat back, this moroso resinator I got for free from my friend who works at the plant in CT, it was somthing new he told me to try out.. and it was loud as all hell.. the milteck is more of a sleeper set up, i dont know which version I have but you cant really hear it, my GF loves it..

apr has the exhausts on sale currently. milltek, not yet. sometimes SPP does winter exhausts sales.

apr will fit MUCH better than milltek. gl with milltek fitment.
milltek sounds 10x better than apr. it is by far the best sounding exhaust for the b5.

even with the sale, the milltek is approx. $100 more.

i have an apr and am definitely satisfied.

some ppl do complain about milltek fitment....i had no issues and i installed my exhaust via 4 jack stands and about 4" from my face.

milltek does make a quality exhaust and so does apr. i happen to think the milltek tone is more inline with audi but to each their own.

mine never drones.

my dad has a miltek exhaust on his TT and it sounds GREAT, very deep, pretty loud idle, no louder than my borla AWOT though

I asked for the APR system for Xmas. I have heard too many fitment and clamp issues with the milltek system. I have driven a car with the APR system and I was suprised at how quiet it was. I think I will be happy with it.

I don't have personal experience with milltek but I have also heard about serious fitmet issues from a reputable source.

I've had the Borla V2, Milltek non-resonated and now the Milltek Resonated.

The V2 sounds really deep, but not obtrusive, great fit and finish, no droning.

The Milltek non-resonated, made the car sound as my GF would say a "ricer", basically a turbo charged four banger. Also, there was some obtrusive droning at 3.5K rpm, it didn't bother me, but it did bother my passengers.

The Milltek resonated, sounds very refined not a deep tone, no droning at all, sounds very nice at WOT and under.

In general I had some fitment issues initially, but all was resolved thanks to the guys at Creative.

I ran the borla V2 on my other b5. If I had to make the exhaust choice again, I would go with the borla all the way. I know you didn't ask about this setup, but just thought I'd throw that out.

exactly. I have nothing to gain by commenting negatively about the milltek system.

furthermore Emil, I'm not the only one to comment on milltek fitment issues so why single me out to try to add more weight to your argument.

APR is a good product, and if it's on sale that's even better. Like I said, I have never been able to compare the two, but I am 100% happy with my exhaust and there were no fitment issues at all. It really is a matter of choise, and I like the stealth sound, because it's quite around town, and throaty when you get on it but not raspy.

Go with GHL 100%. I have it and it is amazing. For ~$1000 you get a hi-flow car, fat ass downpipe and rest of exhaust. It pops when you let off the gas and sounds like no other.

anyone have any sound clips of either exhaust? or links to any for that matteR?

their both good choices....its a matter of your preference...some ppl like borla...i hate borla. some ppl have had fitment issues....others haven't. APR makes a good product...as does milltek. so its really all about preference. i like stealth too...so milltek was the better choice for me at the time since APRs was kinda loud and would drone.

This convinced me to get a unresonated Milltek once I can afford it.

Neuspeed!!! HA f that...

I have APR and it is far to quiet for my taste but fits great. It gets its ass kicked from hitting the ground but has held up nicely. In a week or so I am going to have the middle res removed, I hate the thought of cutting into the 900$ exhaust but I thought I'd give it a try....

milltek.com has sound clip with your car. I have a 2.8 just got the milltek and the performance is very noticeable, it is a more quiet sophisticated sound, not like the raspy hondas, fitment is fine i put it on in my garage with jacks stands, i would recommend taking it to mel and sons or some other muffler shop.... they only charged me $40 to weld the pipe instead of keeping the clamps on.

I am a Magnaflow man. I have 2.5in straight from the flex pipe and it sounds mean with very little droning. Very nice sound. Alot of people are suprised when i tell them its a 4 cyl.

I bought the milltek non resonated from renn-art for my 2001 1.8t and i love it. It's sounds amazing and is not too loud. No fitiment issues for me and you can definitely feel the gains.
