Ok, well i ordered a coolant temp sensor for my car.
This is what i got:

I found out its supposed to be the BLUE ONE. So i get this color one here from ecs:
http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?searchstring=coolant+sensor&searchqt=byvehicle&make=Audi&model=B5+A4&submodel=Quattro&engine=1.8T

Here's a reference to how they are supposed to look.

http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m248/BzeB5A4/1130062209-00.jpg
on the little box it came in:
On top of the box has
059 919 501 MY
temp. sender

BUT then the sticker over that is:
Part #
078 919 501B
Es# 6646

worldimpex.com

If you can't find it on the site, call them. They ship fast, have lots of stuff, and good prices.

078 919 501b has more than likely superseded to 059 919 501...if i was @ work i could tell you 100%

059 919 501 is the correct part # for your car though...its the right part [up]

078 is a part # for a v6

that part # was more than likely used on the 12v motor and then superseded later on to the 059 # when the sensor became common on a lot more motors

Ok, i'll try it. I need this thing, my current one is almost dead lol.

IF, this isnt the right part and it "plugs" in and "looks" fine, can i cause any major problem by using it?

its the right part

stop worrying about

there are many other things you could be focusing your attention on other than a coolant temp sensor

Again I just got my second order from ECS today and everything was perfect. Very fast shipping and good customer service. I would cut them a brake. It's a busy season so they must have a lot of work to do.
