Driving at 12 am on 280 south bound by Monterey blvd exit there was an object in the 3rd lane. It was about 30ft in front of me when I saw it. Turned out to be a plastic trash can, and a good sized one at that.
Short story short, the swearving to avoid it didn't help, I ended up cracking my front bumper pretty damn bad.
There goes $2000 down the drain.
I don't understand some people...how hard is it to tie down the sh*t that they have in the back of their trucks?
Ugh!!!!!!

That blows. One time my brother and I were driving on 80 coming back from Tahoe. We were still up in the mountains when a plastic trash can flew out of a truck in front of us and landed right in front of our car. Needless to say we hit it head on, but luckily there wasn't any damage. The guy was nice enough to stop so I could yell at him for a while, but exchanging insurance wasn't necessary after assessing the car. Sorry to hear otherwise for you...

Same thing happen to us on 880 N comming from Santa Cruz. We were in a Mango (70's Toyota Corolla), changed lanes to get around a BIG RIG and WTF... a BIG HUMONGO sofa. Luckily my buddy had good enough reflex to get back over and keep the car straight after getting it sydewayz.
Four deep in a mango having to do that is scary as hell!

damn that blows. i remember one time i went on a late night drive up saratoga hills with fellow BMWers and i was leading they insisted i did because i had the brighest headlights, anyways, im haulin ass through the hills and i see a baby deer and i rolled into him doin like 15-20MPH.
no frontend damage though, just some deer guts and hair in my foglights. =/
but yeah that really sux man. hope your insurance is good. this is why i got full coverage with a $250 deductible, the lowest that my insurance company offers, incase sh1t like this happens/

Deductible is $500, and they will only replace for an oem s4 bumper, not a $1000 rs4 bumper.

Didn't you tell your insurance that you replaced teh bumper?? if you didn't of course they'll only replace it with the stock bumper... after all, it's what you're covered for.
ask the shop, maybe they can use the money the insurance pays them plus some of your own money to order you a rs4 bumper..?

pebbles coming outta big rigs hittin the windshield is worse imo. a broken bumper you will fix for sure, lil scratches/cracks on the windshield is a big debate whether to fix or not.

we would except I am not driving an hour to pick his ass up for a movie. He needs to get his license back already.
I saw an integra today pulled over on 280 with a huge bucket stuck under his car. looks like he got pwnd too.

there should be a clause that u can add onto your insurance to cover valuables, modifications etc.. when i had my audi i had that coverage, so if say my HRE rims got stolen i would get reimbursed with HREs other than stock Avus rims....
it will cost you a little more each month but cant beat the peaceof mind. thank god i never had any problems with getting my HREs stolen. but its worth looking into if you have more than just a couple aftermarket parts.
