i was wondering if it would hurt our cars to run straight pipes from the car back, no mufflers?

anyone ever done it and how does it sound, say 3" pipe from the cat back?

3" will sound shitty wiht the little k03.

2.75 is max. if you are planning on a bigger turbo, 3" is a good idea

yup, you can but you will change your mind as soon as you start the car, at least I would. Very loud.

no, stock turbo

i guess i would have them fab me something up, and if it sounds crappy, just put on the first factory muffle till i get something better

but what our car needs is a "straight through" muffler anyways right?

and those don't provide much muffling

actually, a lot of aftermarket companies use straight through mufflers, that make a huge difference in noise level.

you really wont see any noticable gains from a straight pipe exhaust on a K03, biggest gain is a testpipe.

with the k03 all you need is a 2.5 as said before anything larger will just make a lot of noise and you will loose back presure, something the k03 needs.

I have straight throught custom mandrel bend exhaust with a straight magnaflow muffler and resonator.....and its very loud!

I run my car without an exhaust, just a 3" down pipe and a turn down.[:p]

Sure is, when I run this way at the track my car is nearly as loud as the V8's running open headers.

yes, running a 3" cat back would be completely pointless for funcionallity.. you have to get rid of that cat first. it's the most restrictive part of our exhausts.. after you do that it is still pointless because the little ko3 will not respond that well to a 3"pipe. it's just too big for that little turbo.. a 2.25" is good enough for it. if you plan on upgrading then 2.5-3" would be good

thats what i am running and it is extremely loud. like comfortingly loud. like i literally had a headache when i drove for more the 15minutes and I work in a club.so im use to loudness
