So i ordrered a new engine for my car so i can sell it. They sent me a 2.8 30V rather than a 2.8 12V. the shop is going to send it back, but i was wondering how hard it would be to swap the 12 for the 30. what would be needed for the swap? electronics wise and everything

interesting mistake... sorry i cant help you re: 2.8 anything... are you asking b/c you are considering keeping it? is there a price difference?

11-20-2006, 01:14 PM
yes i am considering keeping it now.. if its the 30v i might just supercharge it.. im sure they would not charge me more for the clip, its just gonna be the labour... any help would be appreciated guys..

supercharged 2.8s are badass and few and far between. If it is easy enough to do, I'd agree with you and say go for it!

definatley keep the 30v [up]

dont take my word for it, but wouldnt the only major difference be the ecu/head ?

i know it all sounds great but guys what would the differences be in the wiring and such? the shop does not want to do a huge swap if there are problems.. i need the help of an audi guru for sure.. has this been done before?

nm.. close this thread.. the ****ing shop wont do it.. im gonna kill myself if i have to drive this pontiac grand am for any longer

If you wanted to go the SC route, you would need the entire 30V ECU and harness and all related sensors. If you're lucky, it will plug into the existing plugs for the other systems (Central convenience, Instrument Cluster, trans control for autos, etc, etc)

You would also have to find out if things like A/C and Cooling System will not be affected.

You're better off starting with a front clip and engine from a wreck that will have everything you need, rather then a brand new 30V

i figured.. but i decided against it. im buying a new car in spring anyways so this is going to cause me nothing but headaches

i've thought about this 30V swap but figure you might as well do a s4 swap...?

good luck with your next car man
