View Full Version : totalled the4 audi on sunday

11-20-2006, 12:31 PM
well i think my audi is going to get totalled... i lost control after i hit a huge pot hole and then hit a dip and next thing i know i hit a crub and then flew into another crub and busted a lot of thing. from the looks of it the front bumber is busted, there is a hole or two in the block of the motor cause all my oil is out the car. and my clutch seems to be busted cause i couldn't get it to move in any of the gears, i could put it in the gear just couldn't get it to move... all and all.. i'm kinda pisses... but i'll know for sure if it'll be totalled over the week... if so be on the look out for a huge forsale post on tons of my extra parts.

11-20-2006, 12:45 PM

Sucks man. I know it's little consolation, but at least you're okay.

11-20-2006, 12:48 PM

11-20-2006, 01:04 PM
Guys when you take your cars out you really do take them out.

I take it your not thinking of buying another if your going to sell the parts, so it’s like a double blow we loose a car and another Audi fan.[=(]

11-20-2006, 01:09 PM
Not again. Damnnnnn.

We have to realise that quattro is not invicible and we have to be carefull. I had my losing control moments and I got scared sh*tless.

11-20-2006, 01:35 PM
quattro or non quattro he wasnt driving crazy, he hit a pothole and lost control.

11-20-2006, 01:42 PM
nizmosx I'm not talking about this guy only. I'm talking in general.

Most of the totals lately have been because people lost control and you usually do push your car if you lost control.

All I'm saying is that we have to be more careful as there are a lot of totaled A4's lately.

11-20-2006, 01:49 PM
sorry for the loss man, looks like you had a very clean and cool looking car. also i llove your headlights, call dibs on them.

11-20-2006, 03:07 PM
b5's are going down like flies now..wtf

11-20-2006, 03:41 PM
Your clutch might not be going because you busted an axel. The car would not move at all it happened to me. Try that maybe you could get a good tranny out of the whole thing glad your OK!

11-20-2006, 04:06 PM
wow, another b5 down. sorry about the loss, man. At least you werent hurt as you said.

11-21-2006, 08:42 AM

11-21-2006, 08:47 AM
as you can see most of the damage was done to the oil pan and under the car :( ... hopeing for the best but i have a feeling it's done

11-21-2006, 08:48 AM

11-21-2006, 08:49 AM
oh damn...well can you get money from the state or the county do to their roads being messed up? my buddy sued and won when a metal plate tore his car to shreds.

11-21-2006, 08:50 AM

11-21-2006, 08:56 AM
Wow, that sux, but I do see it as repairable. GL.

i'll always be an audi fan... i've learned so much about these cars i can't just leave them... if it's a total lost.. i'm looking for a 1.8t or a wagon, or i may just buy an suv and try to buy back my audi to make it a track car

11-21-2006, 07:57 PM
wow, i know that shopping center

sorry to hear man, catch me on aim about some of your parts if you sell them, hook up a local ;)

11-21-2006, 08:15 PM
that looks fixable.....sorta.

11-22-2006, 08:12 AM
thumbs up to the tow truck driver for using a dolly!

11-22-2006, 08:18 AM
file a claim against the city where the pot hole is. i had a street sweeper in nyc take out my entire lower driver side of the car. it took a few months (8!), but i got my $.

looks mostly like- you destoyed the oil pan which is mostly labor b/c you have to drop the subframe, but the rest looks rather fixable.

wait the est b4 you completely write it off. good luck-

11-22-2006, 08:23 AM
2ov T..... Cough cough

Sorry for your questionable loss man, she was very unique, or at least at one point ;)

i was gonna say before i saw the pics that its very hard to damage the block from how you described and its probably just the oil pan you effed up

11-22-2006, 08:23 AM
sorry to hear it I recked my about 8 weeks ago, it sucks.. hope your alright..

11-22-2006, 11:44 AM

11-22-2006, 11:56 AM
SHEEEZE, A lucky escape for you, and another B5 down, Its good to see it's not got you down too much

11-22-2006, 12:14 PM
sorry about your car man. it doesnt look completely destoyed though.

11-22-2006, 09:59 PM
Depending on the value of the car, I say that isn't totalled.

My 1997 had 110,000 miles when I got in an accident a year ago. Fender, hood, bumper, radiator, frame straighten, radiator support, headlight, several control arms, OIL PAIN, etc. Not totalled.

11-22-2006, 11:00 PM
God damn, getting A4's seriously damaged is becoming a statistic now.. 3 or 4 last week including mine =/

11-23-2006, 10:08 AM
mines a 96 12v with about 126000, it's in great shape.. so hopefully it won't be totalled but if it is i'm already ready for it

damn sorry to see that, hope everything works out....i would have never guessed that was a 96 either. I got a 96 with only 2,000 more miles than yours has. GL on whatever you do. [up]

yeah, unfortunately the blue book of the 96s is pretty low. but, just stay positive and look at it as a good opportunity to move to a car that will last you longer. you could get a 2001 and have a car that is 6 years newer and still look exactly the same!

11-24-2006, 07:15 AM
bummer bro, best of luck to you, its tough to see your car get totaled when youve done so much to it :(

11-24-2006, 08:39 AM
IMHO it looks worse then it really is. As long as your frame is ok, and there is nothing wring with the motor, you should be able to fix it.

11-24-2006, 08:55 AM
With any luck they won't total it. If they do, I hope to see you in another Audi.

11-24-2006, 03:34 PM
if they do total it.. i think i'll just buy a random DD and once i grad. school in may i'll jump up to either a s4, or an a6. either way whatever audi i get next i'll be able to do what i truelt want cause i'll have the cash flow unlike now with college were i have NONE.. lol... well i haven't heard from the shop today so maybe it's good news... sigh.... i can only hope

11-28-2006, 11:16 AM
well i find out today or tomorrow if she's gone forever or gonna get fixed... let hope she gets fixed :)

11-29-2006, 07:51 AM
well it's totalled... this sucks.. but i'm going to the shop sometime this week to take it all apart.. minus the suspension cause that would take too long. if anyone in charlotte wants some parts let me know...to give you guys an idea here is what's gonna be for sale
17x8 flik justice in black with custom audi center caps
custom blacked out headlights
blacked out tail lights
CC 1pc headlights (drvier side with broken tab 13dollars from ECS)
those are the main stuff but i'll make a forsale post just letting everyone know

11-29-2006, 08:03 AM
damn bro that sucks that the car was totalled, but hopefully it works out for the best!!!!! goodl luck

01-02-2007, 09:32 PM
sorry to hear! Glad you made it ok, could have been worse.
Did this happen in Charlotte? I seem to recognize the shopping center in North Charlotte.
Where did you hit the pot hole? I'll make sure to avoid it when in the area!
I hit a pot hole myself on Lancaster hwy b/w West Providence and Johnston. Killed one of my new wheel/tire, scratched lower sill and rear wheel too. I had just 500 miles on the new 19" BBS and tire!

Call the city and get their claim department. They deal with just this kind of problem and will open a claim for you. Get whatever you can out fo them! Check the blue pages of the Charlotte Phone Book. The lady there is actually very nice and helpful. If it is on a NC State Maintained road, you can also start a claim but it might be more challenging.

Good luck.

My '99 with 54k miles was recently totalled. Here's the list of parts:

Left Fender
Radiator Support
Rear Left Door
Rear Right Track Bar
Rear Right Hub/Knucle Assembly

Really not that big of a list considering the value of my car was $11,482 and after I fixed the suspension and patched the radiator the car was mechanically sound.

If they do total it. Be sure to ask how much they want to buy the car back. I bought mine for $1250!!!
