A4 Top speed w/ & w/o limitator

This is my question for all of you out there who have bought a ECU software upgrade and eliminated your top speed limitator. I was wondering how fast you guys managed to go.

The guys from APR told me that they will remove the limitator when they put on the software but they don't say what will be my top speed.

I have an STOCK A4 (B7) 2006 FWD CVT and my top speed is 140Mph. Will that be different adding APR software or any other ECU upgrade?

Your top speed with the limitator should be 135. At least that is what the manual says. You should only have the limitator if your tires are not rated for high speeds.

I have an additional question on this topic.
I can't seem to get my car past about 137. I don't have a limitator, and I have the S-line package with the high performance tires. I am wondering if a body drop will allow me to get more speed? I am not revving out, so I know that the car can do more with either less resistance or more horsepower. Any ideas guys?

barkerd, which powerplant and drivetrain configuration do you have?

I haven't taken my 2.0T FSI Quattro (Neuspeed chipped) past 120 but at 120 it still felt like it had a lot left.

I took it up to 140 mph on the speedo .. but since it isnt accurate at that speed, I guess I hit the limiter at that time. (mind you, I wasnt chipped during this time)

The other day, I was gonna try it again. however, I got caught in the middle of it doing 105mph by some jersey trooper. Now, im banned from driving in Jersey..... (Just my luck, since I drive around 100mph for most of the time on the NJ turnpike at night when traffic isnt heavy)

I hit 140mph on the speedo as well with my stock A4. I was racing an Acura RSX i-Vtec. He passed me when I hit the limiter.
The acura has only 1 more HP and I don't know how he didn't hit the top speed like me.
Probably he had a software or something...

The last few times I try the top speed I hit 135mph on the speedo and the car wouldn't go faster.

I really wanna know if I can go faster with a software upgrade or it'll always be the same.

My DTM doesnt have a limiter, as it should never reach the 255 km/h mark anyways.
But.... on a favorite piece of road with a tail wind i got it upto 270 km/h = which is 168 mph on the speedometer and it prob would have gone further.
Usually i can get 150 mph whatever the wind.
And thats all stock
And gearing wise the car should hit 180 mph at about the redline, all i need for that is 1 big storm or 1 big turbo.

my GIAC update file took aaway my limiter and i went around 240km/h = 149ish m/h the other day

i felt like i could go even faster but other cars started showing up on the highway and i decided to slow down

I have gotten my car to 160, heres a few pics at 155mph & 153mph, not sure though...but I have hit at 160mph with still some left.

For some reason I seem to run out of space every time I hit 140mph, or some @sshole just gets on my lane going 55.(I do live in Florida, the capital of old (slow) people

Ps: I am on the Audi dealer as I type, and as I was driving here, an old lady confused the brake with the accelerator, and rear ended a trail blazer, I was like five feet from the accident, she even did a burnout lol [:D]

ESP comes off when I 1st turn the car on, and yeah I don't know what I was thinking without the belt, it was just one of those mornings. decided to top her out, I took all the pics myself as I was driving, I have some vids but can't find a way to post them on here.

What do you have on your car? Did you happen to see how many RPM's you were running? Feels like you got more room to foot down???!!!

It will go past 160 but I really need to put the phone down past 155 cuz it gets a little shaky....I have like maybe 500-800 RPM left at 160...I don't know my car is weird...but I will tell you this I'm going back to the same location on Thanksgiving where I do these topped out runs and will video tape them...

Just in good conscience I have to say "don't do it", but if you do, please don't tape it yourself at those speeds (drive with both hands and with a seatbelt) haha

No not taping myself for this one...I will drop my friend off on the side of the road, turn all the way around and do a 160mph fly by.....and may be a few other things with him video taping some runs or back road runs in the car.

thanks for that comment hondakiller. I hadn't realized til now that I have always had someone with me.

Once you max out your tach in sixth you will have to get a new transmission with higher gear ratios. Any extra horsepower will only decrease the time it takes to get to top speed, but it will not increase the top speed.

apr 93, APR exhaust, creative test pipe, carbonio, Nuespeed SS, Tein SS, forge diverter spacer...and thats it....I will also see if I can get the camera to hold its position in between the headrest...if so...SOLD!

I'm getting excited just thinking how'd that be when I get my APR software, CAI and TP.

I'll put everything together by the end of the month and I'll definetly try the top speed.

As Hondakiller said... things get a little shaky at that speed but it's PRICELESS!!!!

Always with the hate, but no I don't stare at the speedo fool...If I was staring I would get better pics...its more like at 150 pick the phone up snap the pic and put it back down...less then 5sec. total, and the road I travel is wide open and like 15miles of nothing but straight road out in North Carolina...O well sorry but 160 aint shit really, yeah its fvckin fast but try looking down at the cluster around 175mph! overall diameter = 25.4
Final Drive (Quattro M6) = 3.889
Gear (Quattro M6, 6th gear) = 0.658

Plug those numbers in and you see that it looks like a quattro A4 M6 will top out in 6th at like 5300-5400RPM (assuming that chipped/modded it makes 250ish to the wheels)... top speed = 157mph-159mph

hey studlee, you gotta bring your car over here to italy or germany and that will eliminate the first fear. when i drive around in germany I have the throttle on the floor goin about 136 and there are all kinds of more powerful cars passing me. It is wild.
