View Full Version : Which O2 sensor is it?

I get this trouble code, P0150, and my Bentley manual states, "O2 Sensor Circ., Bank 2, sensor 1 Malfunction.."

There are several options online I have seen, but I have ordered the Bosch downstream unit.

Is this the upstream or downstream, and what does the "Bank 2" and "Sensor 1" mean?

Drivers side pre-cat o2 sensor...

Bank refers to the cylinders on one side of the engine as compared to the other... On a 4 cyl there is only 1 bank... A V6 will have two... Sensor 1 would be before the cat and sensor 2 is after...

personaly... i wouldn't go with bosch. i don't like them beacause they make terrible parts for my 300zx. but even worse than that, their infamouse 4 electrode and dual electrode spark plugs are worthless!!! dumbest idea ever....

Hate to jack the thread, but i'm throwing a lean ocde and suspect the O2 Sensor is the culprit. Is it safe to assume that the pre-cat (Sensor 1) would be the cause of this or would it be the other one (Sensor 2)?

You've got the 1.8t which only has 2 O2 sensors the 2.8 has 4
And yes the upper (pre-cat) O2 could do that, but a small vacuum leak will do that too, as well as a temp sensor

sensor 2 doesn't affect fueling at all, it is solely for catalyst efficiency diagnostics and such

I though it was just a extra part that randomly turns the CEL on.... J/K

By the way Tony, I got that air filter the other day, thanks

If the downstream O2 sensor activate the CEL on a GM its code P0420.... something to do with irregular air ratio called 420?

Ha... funny... I used borg warner sensors on my Taurus SHO and I had a CE light stating a lean condition... I did everything to check what it was. Lo and behold I put bosch O2 sensors in and everything was fine...

If the fault is -system too lean bank 1- you probably need a new mass air flow meter. checked mvb 32 I think in egnine electronic and see the readings.
If there like -6.5 to 22% then you need a new mass meter.

Clean the MAF

Cleaned it this weekend and cleared the codes...nothing is back yet, but i'm trying to figure out what else the issue could be if they do pop up again. Thanks.
