i might as well ask the same question. i got in on that group buy.

what would the difference be? honestly, i've read a lot about people shaving stuff but i'm not too sure what all that means exactly. is that like filling in gaps/etc with bondo? i've heard of shaving door handles and tailgate handles and such.

Do the trimguard pieces line up just as OEM lowers do with the mounting bars?

It means cutting the mounting bars for the lower trim and filling in several holes for the mounting screws. It will give a slight widebody effect. Pictures of the difference and some answers from AW post I made... (http://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/2623463.phtml)

For the trimguard you pull the metal pins off the door and it is stuck on with double sided tape.

So you still have to cut the mounting pins then hmmm nothing AUDI specific I see any idea of which one to look at grabbing?

i have the trim guard with my s4 lowers, you dont really cut the pins or shave them, you pull on them with pliers and they come out, very simple, the trim guard is slighlty thinner so it looks cleaner

i think it looks cheap without the trim. imo it seems like the kit doesnt match up with the body.

I'm planning on gettin some side skirts too.

I found taht the trim guard we should buy is this:

http://trim-gard.com/product.php3?Partno=8002S-20

Just want to make sure that this is what people are using? like you lude2euro.

yah i think you found the same thread i have bookmarked on audiworld linking to that trim. that's what i was going to buy when my skirts come in (same as yours).

are you very experienced with this stuff? do you foresee doing this (skirts/trim) with no problems? i may let you do it first so i can ask questions if i run into a problem.

good job bringing this thread back from 2006 but, to answer your question the trim guard stuff has adhesive 3m double sided tape on the back...

so you just prep and paint the trim guard and you just stick it to your car... ofcourse first measure out and make sure everything lines up and fits before you prep and paint

K, where can I get the trim guard?
So it fits directly over what the stock stuff is?

Depends on the skirts.
Sorry for posting this picture once again, but if the skirts stick on the side it will look ugly without trim since its completely visible looking down on the door sill. Just something to keep in mind. I forgot to shave the front and rear caps also, opps.

but it does look cleaner then with guard. Are you shaving your mid moldings?

so should we give our input or let this go back to the archives??

if it matters, I vote for shaving lower moldings just for reference

Thanks for the compliment. It took some time to get it to look like that, but it was well worth it! I take pride in all my work, so i try never to half ass anything. If you're gonna do it, do it RIGHT!

Im guessing trim guard is the stuff that replaces the stock rubbery sprayed side.
